Landsail LS388. All season, £28 each (delivered) from Camskill, or you'll probably have a local place stocking them, and absolutely not your typical ditchfinder budget.
Got a feeling they'll be doing what Hankook did back in the early 90s - introduced as budgets then moved firmly into respected mid-market after a few years.0 -
I have found Coopertires to be a fair balance of quality to cost.
Available from F1autocentres and othersFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

totally agree with you the landsail tyres are not bad at all, the other brand which are very good are Three-A/Rapid tyres. with the lack of marketing people do not recognise the names compared to the mass marketed names like your hankooks, dunlop etc.0 -
Yep, there are a few brands to watch in budgets at the moment.
It's easy to overlook the fact that most of the current Chinese production is comfortably up to the standard that mainstream brands were 10 - 15 years ago, and none of us had a problem with that level of performance back then!
The days of the real "ditchfinder2 are (thankfully) long gone and most people, driving as most people do, will never have an issue with current budget tyres. But prejudice takes a long time to die!

Interesting report (and a bit of a surprise) from Tyrepress here:
http://www.tyrepress.com/2015/03/landsail-beats-michelin-surprise-result-in-finnish-tyre-test/
Ok, it's a different model from Landsail (LS588) but it came comfortably mid-range, including beating Michelin, Vredestein, barum and Firestone.
Note that the Michelin offering was the winner of this year's ADAC tests which gives a timely warning, to those who like quoting such things, that single test results may not be conclusive no matter how respected the organisation doing them!0 -
Wifes Clio has worn the fronts on the inside and outside edges so shall be considering Landsail tyres.
Car is going in next 6months or so and not going to out on anything expensive this time0 -
I'd be surprised if you're disappointed by them, even ignoring the price
But please try to teach her what an airline's for if she's scrubbing both shoulders0 -

Like easyjet or Ryanair? Are they doing tyres now?
Lol0 -
Personally, I now use Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres (I don't remember the EXACT name, but that's close enough!). A quick seacrh for your size shows these http://www.asdatyres.co.uk/155-65-14?brand=goodyear available.
I've used them for the last 40,000 miles on my current car and have been extremely pleased with their performance in both wet and dry - my car's RWD, so arguably more "critical" on the rear tyre choice than your wife's 107.

As said, go to camskill. Next day del
Look at uniroyal rain sport 3's and reviews. Get them fitted at local tyre centre.

Lol
Only if you pay the "landing premium". Otherwise they do away with the whole landing gear and just over-fly the runway while you jump0
