Quick check whilst I have a break at work.

We have decided to do the 1p a day challenge! We're alternating days that we each put into the pot but have changed the rules slightly. So instead of working up from 1p to £3.65 we are just putting in random amounts that we have in our pockets or purse, and colouring in the corresponding square. On Saturday for example I put in £3.25 as I had loads of change after the 50th party we went to.

The cash (if we stick to it) will pay for a weekend away for us...£667.95...

Lets see how long we can stick at it...
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......

Whereas, I would be looking for a 4 night for 2 abroad somewhere :D

Well its taken a week...it was my turn for the 1p savings thing and I had nothing! So I had to resort to the 1p square and used some road kill! Mrs SJ is so smug that it wasn't her who did the 1p square:D

Avid readers may recall I was deliberating what to do with the kids Uni savings (or general account to help the kids when they get to uni ages). Well i stopped procrastinating and finally opened an S&S Isa in Mrs SJ's name for it. I have rationalised that it isn't the 'kids savings', its 'our savings to help the kids'. So now we just need to hope that for the next 18yrs the stock market is kind.

And in other non financial related news, after 7 weeks of no running due to a niggly ankle (I was doing too much when you add the miles to the miles I do on my feet at work, so it was no wonder i got an overuse injury), I restarted this week. 3 small runs so far with a day off in between and happy to report that all is well. I now just need to be sensible ... Mrs SJ is already doubting my ability not to get carried away!

Ooh, I like the idea that you can cherry pick which squares you fill. I might reconsider...
