Busy weekend. Left for work at 6.20am on Saturday, and returned home at 7pm after covering 360 miles round trip! So was shattered on Saturday night. Then up and at it yesterday with a football tournament for DS2, got home and quick shower before heading off to a Christening. Then deposited kids with grandma and heading out for a few more drinks and a meal. Fuzzy head this morning to say the least.
Showery day will stop me doing the re-cementing on the patio, so will tackle the weeds instead. Hoping for an afternoon of a dog walk and a snooze!
Moneywise, thanks to BusyMee i've switched my donor account to Natwest for the bonus as its one i haven't previously claimed. I'm also going to open an account somewhere for Mrs SJ, and then switch that to Natwest as well.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Dog walks done...snooze done...weeding sadly not done! A couple of ill timed heavy showers stopped me, and i had no intention of getting wet. So i tidied the garage instead!
Back to work tomorrow. 2 busy days in then 1 off...will the weeding and cementing get done?????MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Few financials to report. Our hopes for a less spendy 3 weeks to payday were squashed at the weekend. Christening on Sunday followed up by a few more drinks and a meal, and then meal out on Monday evening for nieces birthday. So all plans obliterated and yet again I'm slowly counting the days to payday...
We also have pooch booked in for his haircut tomorrow and the dreaded MOT... MOT has been budgeted for, and keeping everything crossed in the hope it passes!
And as i sit eating breakfast before school run, the traffic reports pop up and the motorway is shut, just at the junction I'll be turning off at for my morning meeting due to a 'police incident'...grrr!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
I think you could have been turning off the motorway very near me police incident one way / serious collision the other direction. Closed in both directions, gridlocked in all surrounding areas and hearing of other accidents around as everyone tries to go over the tops or avoid the main motorway diversion. Sounds like chaos (according the the up to date news channel that is facebook) glad I got the train!0

I actually got away with it. Turned off a junction early as my intended junction was shut, and sailed through. A colleague who lives very near to me took nearly 3 hrs where i took 1! And several people never made it at all. In the end i wish i hadn't as sat in that room was 5 hours of my life that I'll never get back! 2 e-mails would have given me all the info i needed!!!
Still, I could have been involved in those accidents and not making it to work, or home. So at least I was warm, had tea and was safe.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Hope MOT has a good outcome Jimmy. No. 3 failed yesterday, but only on a couple of minor things which DH will fix at the weekend.
Glad you weren't involved in the accidents! (We had a similar situation near here yesterday and my thoughts were with those who the ambulances were headed for.)

Car failed...grrr... Cost £125 to fix so could have been much worse. Its a good local garage (always happy to support local businesses) and they managed to get the repair done already. I have to say there is a huge difference driving it so it must have needed doing.
I guess that swallows up the Natwest bank switch incentive!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -

Does that mean it is a free repair? I suppose it does and having the car on the road is possibly more urgent than OP'ing that mortgage or stashing that bonusSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

I love your way of reframing that Suffolk. But lets be honest we all that the repair will come from the allocated 'cars fund' so that I can fully enjoy the rewards of overpaying the switch incentive!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Few piles of washing done this afternoon (been off work), I've tackled the mountain of clothes that needed repatriating and we now have 12 socks missing a partner. I've then gone the whole hog and put the washing machine on a cleaning cycle with white vinegar and bicarb. My next cleaning victims will be the shower and sink drain in our en suite, and the dishwasher once its finishing doing its job on our tea dishes.
Pooch had his hair cut this morning. His cut is fabulous and his schnauzer beard is all glorious. But we did have an incident with one of his nails. It was cracked right at the knuckle and when they tried to clip it, the whole nail snapped off. Lots of blood, and it was still bleeding 2 hrs later. Its not hurting him or anything, but we ended up confined to the kitchen to keep the blood off couches and carpets. On the 3rd round of that powder stuff it finally stopped. Poor young girl in the pooch parlour was mortified and dreading telling us! So extra treats and snuggles have been in order this evening.
Decision now is do i watch Arsenal or Chelsea?????MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
