There are companies who will deal with it for you. I believe the fee is £18. I cannot vouch for how effective they are but a quick google is all it takes.

    Fairy1992.

If I sent you a piece of paper with a fictitious threat for money in it, and made it look all official, would you just pay me too?

Because that is exactly what you'd be doing if you paid these scamsters.
Seriously though, if £100 really is nothing to you, you could donate it to a charity instead.

The sticky thread does look complex, and its pretty comprehensive, get your head round things and you will realise that its a pretty straight forward process.

Complain to land owner and parasitic parking company (PPC)
Challenge will be rejected by PPC
If landowner pays ball then thats the end of it
Version A: challenge it to POPLA - look at some of the examples and string together your own version win end of
Version B challenge it to the so called IAS - expect to loose however decision s made by the IAS and POPLA are not binding upon you if you loose you can either ignore until/or if you get court papers.
you will get bombarded with toothless debt collection company letters to which you can tell them to FRO with a debt is denied letter, keep complaining to the land owner
    From the Plain Language Commission:

SSS look to be part of Parking Enforcement.org whoever they are. It looks like they mainly comprise of doormen and ex clampers.

They are IPC/IAS so you need to present an appeal which will be rejected by default.

After this, ignore all debt collectors letters. Only reply to the first one, deny the debt in writing and get them (most likely DR+ by the look of it) to refer the debt back to their principle. Also tell them that any further letters from them will be considered harassment.

You need to get this sorted if you want to save yourself some hassle.

If they are IPC, its a two choice system, pay or ignore, appealing gets you passed to the next desk along which is Gladstones Solicitors who cherry pick who to sue.
The IPC appears to be a "one stop shop" they deal with "appeals", rejections, debt collecting and litigation of parking charges all under one roof.
PPC's appear to sign up to the all in one package.
If anything this is one place ignoring can only have a better outcome as you stay under the radar of Stables Yard

  • I do often wonder what the correct advice should actually be when it comes to whether or not to appeal to the IAS.

One argument states that to appeal makes you look 'reasonable' in the event of any subsequent court action.

On the other hand, if I were a judge who had been made aware of the IAS appeals process, I would begin to question why it hadn't been taken up by the defendant. Indeed I would go further and ask for an in-depth inquiry as to the number of appeals which were turned down and why.
