O/S Daily Friday 13th March 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all
Horrible weather yesterday, the rain was torrential and the roads so dangerous. So glad I got rid of that posh car, feel so much safer in an estate!
Hospital for me this morning to check that the nasty on my nose has definitely gone, May also nip to minor injuries as I sliced a piece off my finger last night, nail and all. Will see if they can put a proper dressing on it.

Work then a big relax tonight. Take care. Xx

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, very clear but frosty. Load in basket ready to go on line. Another load now in WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work. Will get DS2 up for school shortly.

Dinner last night was bacon, mushroom and pea risotto – was delicious. Tonight will be an easy chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I’ll have something and jacket potato or omelette and salad. We’re going away but just for 1 night and we’re going in the morning so not so much pressure for tonight – although I do have a list of stuff to do!

I was semi- productive yesterday – car passed MOT so that’s excellent – just need to book mine in and also realised yesterday that when we decided to add DS1 to my car insurance in August last year because I’d broken my foot and was in plaster, we’d moved to a different insurance company – so the insurance for mine is not due until August. Before this change both cars’ insurance and MOT’s we due in April/May – so that’s good we’ve split them and also Tax is due on mine end of April.

I did get housework done (although whole house needs a major declutter, something we’re trying to work ourselves up to as we need to start in the loft and work our way through every room, I’m thinking it may have to wait until DH has finished his term of office doing the caravan stuff in November then we’ll have less commitments and can get stuck in with it, I’m thinking we need to set aside weekends or at least a whole Saturday/Sunday). I did make a good start on DH’s admin work, so that’s in hand. Continued with the washing and drying so there’s a pile of ironing to do, also changed our bed and got the bedding dry on the line, so making headway – will get the boys to strip and remake their beds so their bedding can be washed later. So later I need to do the ironing and pack a bag for going away in the morning – but it’s only me and DH and for 1 night – so will just pack bare minimum.

I’ll be heading to town shortly, need to visit the bank and building society, then do the food shopping, that will be a bit of running around as need some bits from different shops but I have all day, so will just potter along and will keep going until I get done. I’m not going to get stressed/overwhelmed over it. Mood yesterday wasn’t too bad, although did dip a bit in the afternoon – I had a list of chores to do so was trying to concentrate on getting them done, today will be busier – so I should be able to keep busy and not let my mind wander.

    Have good Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning one and all. Raining steady away here and I never did get the towels washed yesterday due to setbacks caused by the DGD! Don't ask!! Just me and the youngest DGD up at the moment. We are having a change from Peppa Pig this morning as she wanted Mickey's Clubhouse on.

I had a lovely birthday yesterday, thanks for all the cakes and balloons! I had visits from DS in the morning which was nice. He just had time for an early lunch before dashing off to work. He works too hard and I worry about him (do we ever stop worrying over our kids despite their age?!) His partner can't seem to hold down a job and he is working all hours to keep their heads (she has 2 boys) above water. He left about 1.00 so we then went for our promised pub lunch which was lovely, followed by a yummy Apple Betty with custard. We were stuffed! Just got back in time for the youngest DGD getting dropped back off, followed by a visit from my SIL. The other 2 arrived after swimming club. By then I felt all in but had a lovely day and some gorgeous gifts. DD bought me my favourite perfume (Flowerbomb) and got her hands smacked as it so expensive and she never has any money. Well you're worth it is what she says! Aw bless her, at least she appreciates all I do for her! Got a lovely watch off my best and oldest friend. We met at school when we were 7 and have been friends ever since (62 years!).

Once the DGDs have gone to school there is the usual Friday clean up to do and by heck it needs it! How can 3 children make so much mess and create so much washing in 2 days?!

Well I can now hear DGD6 on the move above me so time to stop waffling on. Have as good day as you can all, take care xx

I hope your appointment goes well camelot x

Sounds like a great day TravellingAbuela :D

The rescue centre rang yesterday – everyone's visits, walks, etc. have been cancelled for a week because one of the dogs has a virus. I'm glad they do this and I know it's the right thing, but it's very frustrating – I NEED to see him! They're going to bring the home check forward a bit so there's not too much of a delay for him moving in.

I'm not quite sure what to do with myself today now :D I was expecting to spend most of the afternoon at the centre. I need to fill lots of pots with compost for the chillis, and put the canes in ready for my cucumbers and tomatoes. They're not ready to go out yet but I'm trying to be a bit more organised this year and have things ready in advance. It's raining though – hope it doesn't last all day. I need to pop to town for a couple of things, I'll try and time it for when the pub opens. My cousin and a couple of his mates always take this day off work for the races and meet in the pub for drinks and betting, a merry time is usually had :D Wouldn't mind popping in and catching up with him for an hour.

Good Morning everyone, cloudy grey and chilly here again this morning and I'm off to restock us for the few bits I need mealwise for next week. Olaf has surprised me yet again as last night I tried giving him his 'green goo' on a flat jar lid instead of syringe feeding it to him and he cleared the lot and licked the lid which is such a big step, this morning he's amazed me again as he is tucking in to some fine sticks of cucumber and apple for breakfast and managing them well. Almost I'm hopeful!

DD2 and family are flying back today after a holiday with their in laws in the snow, last minute decision and Zebra has really enjoyed the sledging so we will try to get to see them in the nest few weeks when they have a free day which will be lovely, small ones grow apace at this age and he is doing so many new things every time we see him.

Have yourselves a nice day and stay warm, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Just sticking my head through the door - hugs to those that need them x

I,m just having a strong coffee, before I go to pick up MIL - she,s asked me to help set up the Church jumble for tomorrow, and although I don,t mind helping out - the 'regulars' down there do like a pecking order, and, well how can I put this politely - are rather enthusiasic about enforcing it..... The seniors (approx age 80)don't appreciate ideas from the juniors ( approx age 70) - I,m just a kid at nearly 50 :p

I came back with a headache from all the petty politics last time - hey ho - its for a good cause :)

Grey and murky here - date night tonight, so a bit of grape juice will be had

    Good Morning All,

    Hope everyone is well.

Got most of my baking done yesterday so it won't take too long to finish it today.
I have white high gloss doors on all my kitchen units (not our choice we rent) they all need a good wash so thats next on my agenda. i used to constantly clean them but they get grubby so quickly so i do them less often nowadays.

Have to clean in the fridge too, we get our shopping delivered tonight so will get things clean before that.

I also have my usual big Friday list cleaning never seems to come to an end.

Have a great, warm and safe day everyone,

    Regards

    Morning all,

Not long been up its my day off and I must have needed the sleep, I love my job but its completely exhausting ! The clients are fab and so funny but very hard work !

So this morning I am going to have a good clean and tidy through, I have a wash on the go which will have to go on the airer / TD as its overcast here and looks like rain.

DD coming home tonight and I have to take her to the DR as she has an appointment, then home for dinner which could possibly me meatballs and spaghetti.

The very expensive bacon was indeed delish but I don't think I would pay that much, was nice for a treat though.

Topsy hope you are ok x

Camelot hope all goes well xx

    Have good days all xx
