Amazon - Parcel dropped over back gate

Options
Ordered a couple of SSD's the other day and they were delivered when I was away yesterday. The card through the letter box said they'd left the parcel by the back gate. I couldn't see anything from the front. They'd dropped the parcel over the back gate, onto the concrete floor.

I know SSD's can take a bit of a knock, but it isn't great that their delivery people are just dropping them from that height is it. Rant over :)

I would give them a call asking when my items are going to be delivered.

Haha! I'll be asking them to replace the items I think, rather than take a chance using them.

How do you know they didn't open the gate?

I think how bothered I would be would depend on what the item was. Certainly any computer components would be going back. I wouldn't recommend committing fraud like the above poster but I'd certainly be giving Amazon a call. This is of course dependent on my first question.

They can't open the gate it is locked. Approx drop height would be over 6 feet.

I've returned the goods for a refund as one of them was for a friend and I'm not comfortable handing over potentially damaged goods.

I remember my stepdad ordering a vinyl record from amazon and the postman folded the parcel to fit it through the letterbox.

Obviously a personal thing but that never bothered me at my previous address under similar circumstances. I preferred having the items rather than the hassle of having to arrange a collection, never had anything broken though.
    It's someone else's fault.
