Lol, this reminds me of an outbound call I once did (a bit off topic)....
I'm cold calling a landlord on the instruction of the tenant, in order to give the landlord a completely free service. So I explain it to the woman on the other end, and she turns round and says "are you a sales call?" to which I respond "no, our services are absolutely free and we have been set up by xxx to help tenants with these issues".... her: "right ok, but are you selling something?" - "umm no I'm not...". She ended up getting all defensive and fobbed me off by giving me the general email. Therefore, she will be emailed within 2 weeks and the problem for the tenant will now fester for a while
Conclusion, not all things are too good to be true!!! But they are more likely to be a sales call/con.0 -

One guy had the right answer but was unfairly vilified by others http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/16/speakers-corner/4511631/for-those-who-have-had-the-rogue/“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

There are several cheaper alternatives to Truecall such as THIS ONE at just under £30, THIS ONE at just under £40 and THIS ONE at just over £50.
I've considered buying one myself, but when I think about it i'm not really that bothered by the calls. I let most calls with numbers I don't recognise go to the answer machine and if they don't say anything then it can't be all that important.Same old same old since 20080 -

I have friends and family that have a fear with answering machines - and never leave a message. The other week, I rang one of them back. They said that one of Dad's cousins died. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

We're not talking about family and friends though are we? We're talking about junk calls and if you've rung a friend or relative back then you obviously recognised the number.
You can do a search for unknown numbers at sites such as whocallsme.Same old same old since 20080
