Plagued by nuisance calls esp from India

Options
Everyday, I get a phone call from Indian call centres saying I had an accident. I have never had an accident.

The thing is I am registered with TPS. Where do they get my phone number from?.

The calls say withheld on the display on my phone. I have a few people that come up withheld when they ring.

On several occasions, I have said I had no accident and the caller swears at me. I ask them which company they are calling, they hang up. When I ask them to remove my number, they hang up

How on earth do I get these companies to stop ringing me? Its harassment imo.

I have worked in call centres and if any of us swore at a customer, we would be dismissed.

Any help would be appreciated

Tell them you died in the accident. It may confuse them into removing you from their list.

Buy a BT 8500 call blocker phone .
TPS does not work for international .
Your number is freely available and can be bought and sold .

We were going crazy with unwanted calls, then someone on our local radio mentioned a True-Call. We Googled it, then bought one straight away. Wanted calls are welcome but unwanted ones are completely blocked. Automated calls cannot get through at all. Since that day we haven't had a single unwanted call. OK, it cost over £90 but believe me it is worth every penny.
I don't know anything about the BT phone so it'd be a good idea to compare what they do and the relative cost. Then treat yourself!

    I second the Truecall.

    Well worth the money.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I have one, it doesn't work unless you have caller display which I refuse to pay Virgin for, so do what I do, tell them to !!!! off and hang up.

BT charge for caller display too. I have a proper, old-fashioned whistle next to my phone ....... :D

I'll third that. Best £90 I've ever spent.

Rather than argue with overseas sales people, I have found an effective way to confuse their robo-diallers. Just pick up the phone and say nothing.

Eventually, the machine at the other end decides that it has reached a dead line and hangs up. No need to talk to anybody.

If it's actually a real person calling, then they are bound to say something after a while, and then I talk to them.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Oddly enough, I had two of these "accident" calls today. Both from "India" (or Birmingham).

I act surprised that I was in an accident and ask them if I was hurt.
