Need new Sat Nav car charger

Many thanks for all your replies - some of the very technical ones went a bit over my head - but it seems that a generic charger should be ok.

Sorry - a further question - a friend has given me a lead that she no longer needs, but whereas the original one has an output of 1.5 amp, this one is 600mAmp - would it be safe to try it?

All you need is a USB car cigarette lighter socket like this:

You can then connect and charge anything with a USB lead - no need for separate chargers at all.

It will be fine, the worst that can possibly happen is that the battery will run down faster than the charger can fill it.

Thanks - I thought that was probably be the case - but just wanted to check
