For anyone who missed it, that was it in a nutshell. The rest was just playing clips of people who had been interviewed before. So the actual update was only about 1 minute's worth.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Leopards and spots.
For years corporate EAs have been (ab)using their position to make money out of vendors and purchasers with their ancillary mortgage, legal, insurance and survey services.
On the whole these services are more expensive and/or lower quality than can be obtained elsewhere.I am a mortgage broker. I did! I made it clear from the beginning I wanted to carry on using my broker, they did give me the usual spiel about how they may be able to find me a better offer but they were not pushy at all. A few hours after I left, I had a call to say that my offer has been accepted by the vendor!
PS thank you for asking
In the same position as you Pickles, got an appointment arranged for tomorrow.

Did you just go in and lay it down. present your AIP and written offer and say you were not going to use their services, without giving any more details to them?0 -

No, I went in and reiterated several times that I had my own broker but the advisor insisted on seeing if she could find me a better deal so I let her. Then I left and used my own broker just as I had said. I knew you had to keep them onside and they insisted that they wouldn't accept an offer until I had been in to see them (they didn't explain that this would be an appointment with a broker though!) It was annoying but it wasn't too much of an issue as long as youre firm. Someone on here sent me the link to the codes of practice which I printed out and took with me in my (see through) folder. Oh and I also dropped in that I read these forums so know the score!0 -
The most pointless 20 minutes of my life.
I don't know if it was because they're a different branch where the appointment was but it was just odd. Went in, she had minimal details, names, property, that we had already spoken to Natwest and L&C. Asked how they went, explained that I'm contracting at the moment and said spoke to an Indy and got recommended 'x', went direct to them who have provided the DIP.
She said she would check their lenders, took our general employment details didn't ask for proof or anything and checked. Said they had a few lenders themselves and that there was no issues with affordability. Said she would let our branch know there were no issues, gave me her card and said if we wanted to go through them just to give her a call.
She was either forewarned or is the worst salesperson and least charismatic person on the planet. Just weird.
We're going to give it until after the weekend, if we haven't heard back from the EA, say mid Monday we're just going to send the vendor a letter directly.0 -
Perhaps she is just very wary with all that has gone on.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
