Delayed balance transfer, any chance of getting interest back?

Ok, I know I'm being a bit cheeky here, tell me straight if its a non starter!

Last week I put in a BT request to pay just under 3 grand from a new 0% Barclaycard and clear my old Natwest card. BC say that they process transfers the next working day, and the money should reach the receiving account the day after that. If that had happened my Natwest balance would have been cleared by the payment deadline from the previous statement.

However...BC put a hold on the transfer and flagged it for their fraud department. Apparently they then spent several days trying to contact me but I had no missed calls, no voicemails, no emails and no letters! It was sorted on my third phone call to them and the BT went through nearly a week after it was requested but by then I'd had to make a payment anyway and a new statement had been generated with over £50 of interest.

Do you reckon there's any chance BC would give me some of that interest back as it was only charged due to the delay caused by them completely failing to contact me about the hold on the BT, plus the delays in actually removing the hold once I'd told them it wasn't fraud?

I'd call them up and ask, usually Barclaycard are very easy to give away free money to retain customers. At worst they can say no, at best you get £50 or a smaller token towards paying off the interest incurred.

When you made the balance transfer did you get a message saying not to ignore payments due on the old card?
I get them when doing balance transfers - so I agree you have no claim.

Of course, I'd already made the minimum payment and I then transferred extra in to cover interest added on the new statement date.

If the balance transfer had gone through in the stated time though, it would have entirely cleared the balance by the due date do I wouldn't have had to.
