delivery after refund

i purchased an item from a online retailer on 16/7,paid for next day delivery.
anyway after a week the parcel failed to show and i applied for a refund, which was duly accredited to my account on 2/8.
low and behold the parcel turns up today 4/8,i know i should have refused to sign for it and it would have been returned but it was early morning and i was half asleep,am i now responsible for the return postage?
the parcel was a present which is useless to me now,iam thinking of canncelling my credit card so i dont get charged again,is it mine now or does it still belong to the retailer as i cancelled my agreement when i got a refund.

Just ring the company up and say they have 7 days to collect it, you do not have to pay return postage its there mistake.

After so long it will become yours not sure how long tho but you have to inform them of there error.

Cancelling your credit card is not going to be any use either. If they want to charge you, they can still charge against the credit card and the credit company will just ask you for the money.

  • I knw the order was cancelled but these are not technically unsolicited goods if they are the original order arriving late.

Contact the retailer advising you have received the goods and ask for them to arrange to collect the item - is it big / small?

They may have a postage paid return label system they can use so you incur no costs.

The supplier "accepted" the cancellation of the order by refunding the money - I would say that the goods are indeed unsolicited.
  • Whoaaa steady on mateybubble it might of been a mistake.....no not a Miss Steak
  • they refunded the money and the order was cancelled after the goods may have been despatched as op said they had not turned up.

If the item that arrived was the one sent out and went missing / severely delayed before order refunded then the goods were not unsolicited - just late

common sense should prevail occasionally .. . . maybe?!

seems the retailers done their best in refunding without having the goods returned/or confirmed lost.
least you can do is let them know the goods are with you and how they want to precede

If the goods were not on order how could they be late - the order had been cancelled ! The supplier had accepted that.

Common sense doesn't need to come into it.
  • They had been despatched

The op had his order cancelled / money refunded AFTER they were sent because they had not arrived by a certain time (required for gift)

The order was cancelled - agreed, but the goods had been despatched - and were late.

I am not the only one who has followed this simple sequence of events.

Yes common sense does come into this :rotfl:

It is simple ask the retailer what they would like you to do. I am not suggesting he goes out of his way to inconvenience himself or incur any costs but what is wrong with using sense.

    A series of unfortunate events.
