PlusNet in new flat

I moved flats a week ago and recently decided to sign up for the Plusnet deal being touted on MSE. There is a phone outlet in the flat, but no phone. During application I selected "I don't know my phone number" and instead just entered address. This all seems fine, the result came back saying yep we can get broadband.
I just had a text from PlusNet saying there is a stop order on the phone line with the current provider which is due to complete on 18/03/2015 (a week from today) and this is preventing the order completing earlier than this date. "If you can contact your current provider to get this removed we can get your services transferred in 2 weeks".
Anyone had experience with the above? Should I just let things play out their course and accept I won't be getting broadband hooked up for about 3 weeks? I have no idea who the current phone service is even with, so I'm not sure how easy it would be for me to alter. Plus I'm worried it might not be good meddling with the service the previous tenants had in place before it completes (in case that is the end of their 12 month contract for example).

Plug in a handset and check who the provider is?
Previous tenants probably failed to cancel the service before they left, hence the delay while the supplier attempts to trace them. I doubt that you'll be able to do anything in the week before the transfer process commences and PN can then book an OR engineer, which typically takes another 2/3 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
