Does my nearly new car really need a new clutch?

I've seen people trying to reverse with the engine bouncing off the rev limiter whilst slipping the clutch (only seems to be when reversing) and unfortunately a Nissan Micra is the sort of car those people would buy.

So, took the car into an alternative main dealer as instructed by Nissan UK. SUPRISE, SUPRISE given all the helpful feedback on here. There is nothing wrong with the clutch and it does not need replacing.

    Interesting to read this.

Wife bought a Peugeot 107 new as a 10 plate. That has always had the biting point right at the top of the pedal travel. I hated it from day one and asked the dealer to investigate it.
    Was told it was normal.
I've had a look and can't see a way to adjust it but 5 years later it is now my son's car and still does exactly the same.

Just found a You Tube vid of an adjustment. Will try it and advise.

  • Been told that the clutch is hydrolic and that there is no adjustment. Just glad I've dodged the £870 the stealer wanted for a new one.

    Thanks for the Update

seems that as we thought earlier the clutch is a trait of the car and it is something that you have to learn to live with rather than repair

you would have been gutted if you shelled out £900 for a new clutch and it turned out to have just as high a bight point and be just as fierce as the one they took out
