Information Commissioners Office - how to cause PPCs some pain

So, after a little spat with IAS and Sussex Security Solutions I made an enquiry to the ICO. The nice person there rang me today and we've had a conversation about the use of the ICO logo. It's a copyrighted logo and the ICO have allowed a very small handful of organisations to use it - an even smaller number of those organisations are private profit seeking companies.
So later on I will be reporting Sussex Security Solutions and Parking Enforcement to the ICO for breaking copyright.
I enjoyed getting Nominet involved when PPCs broke Nominet contracts so I need a new hobby
I also have direct contact details of someone in the ICO that can help. I won't post them here obviously but should you want them then PM me. Please note I will only hand these details out to regulars or recognised campaigners. I reserve the right to say no I'm afraid.

UKCPM are another that use an ICO logo.0

I note that on the Sussex Security Solutions website it refers to "Parking Enforcement" as "our sister company"; whereas in fact it's just another trading name of the same company.0

That's a good point actually. I shall only be reporting SSS to start with and then when they've had to deal with that I'll report Parking Enforcement :rotfl:"The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
Right, that's SSS and UKCPM under investigation with the ICO."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0

I hope you realise while they may sound very sympathetic on the phone to you and possibly follow up with a call back/email after you report one of these outfits for using the logo without permission very little will actually be done as they are about as much use as a wet paper bag.
Sorry for raining on your parade but I know for a fact that the investigations they carry out as a general rule lead to sweet fa bar keeping themselves looking busy and trying to justify the wages they extract each month for little work.0 -

Weirdly I was told almost exactly the same about Nominet when I went down that path ..... that person was wrong ..... Nominet were extremely helpful and enforced their rules. This is a copyright thing for ICO and I am sure they will deal with it."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
You can cause them grief for breaching the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.
See rules 1,2,3 or 4 as one of these will apply...

Maybe but I very much doubt any fines or other action will be taken - They will at best get the people to remove it but if it is a case of taking a legal stance then I would be VERY surprised if anything was done judging by there previous useless actions.0 -
How much does a retrospective commercial planning application cost? I contacted my local council planning department about ANPR camera installations at two local carparks. They tried to fob me off at first but I persisted and after site inspection they demanded an application from both of the PPCs.0
