I just want somewhere with good food, no mad scrum for sun beds (a big ask I know!), and not somewhere overrun with karaoke bars and fast food joints.
An ideal holiday day would be maybe a morning exploring the local area, a lazy lunch followed by an afternoons sunbathing. An evening in a bar watching some local entertainment would be good.
I have just been browsing online and so far have shortlisted Lanzarote and am now thinking about maybe a greek island but not sure which one. Does anyone have any experience on somewhere like Croatia?
I would definitely recommend Crete there is so much to do there, gorgeous beaches, loads of historical sights eg Knossos Palace, Malia Palace, Spinalonga etc. Read up on the WW11 history of Crete and also the film Ill Met by Moonlight starring Dirk Bogarde involving the beautiful mountain villages.
There are beautiful gorges, we even saw a bush fire whilst there. I could go on and on, we stayed at Hersonissos where you have loads of bars and greek entertainment during the evenings and the popular Star beach where you just need to pay for a sunlounger and all the swimming pools are free.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Looby how are you getting higher? I just changed my dates, departing 9 Aug, from Gatwick for 3 people, 7 nights FULL BOARD = £2668.
If you Are you only willing to consider AI that price shoots up to over £3K.

I've just taken a look at this one and it would have been a good option apart from the fact I've just noticed that the flight arrives back on the Monday morning of 17th August. I have work at 9am that day.0 -
