I thought 7 x 4 - 5 x 2 + 3 ÷ 3 as (7x4) - (5x2) + (3/3) = 28 - 10 + 1,
Add first before sub (unless my memory fail me) = 28 -11 = 17 (not on the option list)

Nor by counts Winner awards in 3 years I counted it as 11. What baffle! unless they include runner up awards I re-count as 19! Confused my mind getting older

I nearly agree with you djc58 but I think

7 x 4 - 5 x 2 + 3 ÷ 3 = (7x4) - (5x2) + (3/3) = 28 - 10 + 1 = 19 ;-)

I never heard of this before as I just rely on my memory from math long time ago!! I googled BODMAS and found one useful explaination:

Addition and Subtraction

The final step is to calculate any addition or subtraction. Again, these rank equally, and you simply move from left to right.
Example:

4 + 6 - 7 + 3 = ?


You simply start on the left and work your way across.
4 + 6 = 10
10 - 7 = 3
3 + 3 = 6
The answer is 6.


So Krnries is correct so I believe answer is 19 so need confirm that by count the awards (winner and runner up) in 3 years as 19?
