The dash diagnostic is rubbish. It will only show a tiny handful of codes anyway.

Ive seen them show codes when there were no faults and no faults when there were.

Start light comes on? what start light?

The glowplug light is supposed to come on when the ignition is first switched on.

Once it goes out and the engine is started the glowplug light then has a second role. It flashes to warn you the car is in limp mode with reduced power to get you home.

It can be caused by fuelling or turbo related issues.

Do you have a laptop or can borrow one? Get the F-Super from ebay. eg... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-F-SUPER-Interface-Scanner-USB-SCAN-TOOL-Reader-OBD-for-Focus-Fusion-Transit-/261595610096?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3ce8503bf0

I have no idea on the seller so check before buying. It was the first fixed price one in my search.

    Problem could be:

    1) Turbo, sticky vains will cause glow plug to light, will log P132B error (or P132A for actuator error) P132B errors will occur if turbo is gummed up and needs cleaning., PI32A means the pins on the actuator are loose.

    2) Injector issue, injector needs recoding (as they do on mondeos over time) or replacement. Also make sure the fuel filter on the car is a genuine Bosch or Delphi unit only as they are the only ones capable of protecting injectors on the mondi

EGR errors will not cause glow plug to flash.

    Let us know what happens.
  • The flashing light means your in limp home mode a reduced power and speed mode to get you home.

Not all readers show the codes properly on these. Got a laptop get an F-Super off ebay for under £15. Not an F-Super 2 which can be several different readers with the same sticker.

Software should be Formidable. Anything that says ELM is the wrong reader.

ELM327 OBD code reader is a junk, you need a more powerful obd diagnostic dealer, VCM2 is the best for Ford

Unless its a fake VCM2 off ebay in which case its not only junk but may also be dangerous.

Ive seen one that melted when they tried to use it. Luckily it did no damage to the car.

There are other OBD readers. But the F-Super is cheap and works well. ELM readers work OK om later cars but not my first choice.

There is also a device called a fordiag. Thats quite extensive and not a bad price at £80 ish.
