My mum is the best

AIBU????? My mum is amazing, but I dont want to keep telling everybody and trying to outdo other people by saying my mum is better than your mum just to win a competition. I know that they generally they dont read the answers, and its just a random chance but I still feel obliged to write something special, so I end up just avoiding that sort of competition and then I feel guilty that I haven't told the world how amazing she is.

Mine is a total cow I either lie or go down the I'm a mum route.
Now Valentines day really gets me as I've been single for 10 years.

I agree with you - hate the Valentines comps as I too am single and I don't believe for one second that everyone absolutely adores and gets along with their mum! And I just hate reading all the 'my dear mum has/has fought/has beat cancer' stories!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I am on such bad terms with my Mum that I can't even bring myself to lie. All the 'Tell us how amazing your Mum is and win!!' comps I just avoid...0

I just put ' 'cos she's my mam' and that's it. I've only entered a couple that I really want to win, some of them I've just left well alone. You can't compete with some of the stories.
Same goes for Valentines Day too. I generally avoid them.

It's a tough one. Hard to compete with all the sob stories.
No offence intended here but the bit I don't like is the people posting about how great their mum was before she died. On a competition to win a prize, not for you but for your mum. I'm extremely sorry for your loss, but why are you entering that comp, in that way, using that particular sob story? Doesn't make sense to me.0 -
I've lost my mum & these comps make me very sad and occasionally cry, although I have the loveliest MIL in the world its'not the same, so when asked I use her as my mum - except in one case they asked for your mum's most amazing skill I said she haunts me but the prize would be for MIL or DD who is a mum tooproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I pretty much avoid these comps. I think last year I entered one or two with the line "my mum is amazing cos she gave birth to me!" but usually I don't bother. I hate all the cheesiness0

These have really got to me as my mother doesn't deserve the title and it's like a poke in the eye having a horrid mum instead of the Mary Berry type x#JusticeForGrenfell0

I don't get on with my mum and had a tough upbringing so don't enter those comps. Kinda feels like a slap in the face and I can't compete with all the sob stories anyway!2019 Wins

I used a similar line last year lolThese have really got to me as my mother doesn't deserve the title and it's like a poke in the eye having a horrid mum instead of the Mary Berry type xLadyMorticia wrote: »I don't get on with my mum and had a tough upbringing so don't enter those comps. I've really struggled with the comps too, especially ones which ask for a pic of you with your mum I don't have pics of me with my mum so I've entered a pic of me with my nan. It's the same on fathers day I base my answers on my granddad. Although I have a relationship of sorts with my parents I have a much stronger relationship with my grandparents.
The sob stories are driving me potty. I read one about someones dad being murdered the other day...You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
