02 harrasing me

Hi guys,
I had an 02 contract which I paid over £400 to cancel and become contract free so I could go to another provider. They made it hard, making me wait weeks to be able to transfer my number but this is not the problem.
I am still getting the 'Your 02 bill is ready' emails which are coming in at £300, considering I am no longer with them I got in touch with them and they said it was an over site their end and apologised.
Now another month has gone by and they have sent another 'Your 02 bill is ready' and also stating they have been unable to charge my card. Now I am starting to feel harassed and I am worried in case they send people to my house or I get black listed mking it harder to get loans etc.
I am fed up of me being the person who calls them, wasting my money ringing them. I really do not know how to get them off my back because of their ignorance.
What can I do?

WRITE to them (a real letter) outlining the situation and demanding confirmation in WRITING from them that the account is closed and nothing is due. (Send it 1st class via the Post Office and get a [free] certificate of posting).
That way if they ever did try to take this further you'd have evidence that there is no debt.0
