HELP! Think something fell off my car?!

Driving along and went turn left, when I heard the sound of metal clunk on the ground. Went back to retrieve and I have not got a clue. At first the car seemed to judder a bit but was fine and fine ever since. Any ideas?

I've got a pic but its not letting me post it as I'm a newbie

Dont really know but that looks like something off a HGV not a car.
Might be wrong of course.

I dont think thats from your car tbh, too big, too rusty...nothing like i've seen before, like previous off an HGV i suspect.

Yeah that looks more like something you drove over rather than something that fell off your car.

Are you sure that it fell off your car and that you didn't instead drive over it and have it hit the underside of your car making it sound like it was falling off?

I have no idea…i was stationary waiting to turn when I heard the noise, surely if I'd just ran over it I wouldn't of heard such a clunk noise?

Don't think it's from your car, too big. As for hearing it when stationary, I suspect it fell off something and the clunk you heard was it bouncing off the road and hitting the underside of your car.

Oh god I'm going to look like a right idiot going to the garage with a random piece of metal aren't I? The car has been making a knocking noise recently too though its not long had its mot and nothing was mentioned.

I think though if your are worried, it's better to look like an idiot for a few minutes just to reassure yourself.

Is it knocking in a straight line or when you are turning the steering wheel?
