Thanks, karmacat.
I'm learning to live with it and move on. Think I've got the best year to look forward in a very long time, probably ever. Somehow I've managed (well, my wife has managed) to get myself work I really enjoy and I can see a future in. Wouldn't have considered looking at the industry if my wife hadn't asked if I would be happy to help someone out. Due to the nature of some of the things we do it's meant not all my qualifications have been an absolute waste of time too.
It's given me a future.
Seem to have finally sorted some long-term and ongoing issues in my marriage over the past year or so too. In a lot of ways it seems we're starting afresh and the trust is building. Have made a final decision re. my son's schooling also which has been playing on my mind for many years. However, it's up for review if things change and aren't working for him.2018 totals:

Thank you, kelpie.
Tried to sleep tonight but couldn't. Not getting too stressed about it and will try one of the youtube meditations for sleep. I've not been very well today (over indulgence to blame:rotfl:) and slept in late as all work has been finished ready for the start of the new year. Mrs. K. breaks up from work tomorrow at lunchtime and can't wait for the break after being too efficient and winding up with a very quiet year end. She's got some interesting projects lined up for the new year though and is quite pleased to have some time off with no work to think about.

Thank you, Daisy.
Hope you enjoy the festivities too.
So tired this morning after not getting much sleep and my son waking us up inconsolably wailing about a nightmare, thought those days were over.2018 totals:

Hello Alex,
Well, well, well, haven't your diaries been quite the read this past few weeks?
I've enjoyed reading them and I must say, you have come a long way (but don't stop yet - keep going)!
I really admire your ability to take on board other people's point of view, even if it diametrically opposed to your own, think about it, assimilate it and change your own to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the subject.
I just wanted to say a quick Merry Christmas before it all starts in earnest. I hope that 2018 turns out to be even better for you then the past few have been.
I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Thank you positivebalance and Daisy.
Merry Christmas all.
We've had an eventful week or so. Busy, tiring, some really high points and low ones also. Spent a lot of money again somehow (not keeping up with reading MSE). Mrs. K. managed to fall out quite spectacularly with my parents after they decided Christmas Day was the time to rant about being disappointed with me and how my life has turned out. I managed to win the in-laws' 27th December snooker tournament (father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, Mrs. K. and I participated). Luck was on my side as I found father-in-law is very good. Brother-in-law's wife didn't join in as apparently she can't keep the cue straight though brother-in-law isn't much better. :rotfl:
We were meant to be going to my cousin's tomorrow but she and her family aren't well so not looking very likely at the moment.2018 totals:

Merry Christmas Alex, glad it went ok at the inlaws, shame your parents couldn't have behaved themselves on Christmas Day though!
Now you need to stop spending money and get back to mseit's the best time of year for mfw'rs -plotting, planning and starting the year with good intentions
