Frayed Knot, I usually make a regular overpayment of between £250-350 per month. This month we haven't. I suppose I'm not that committed to overpayments as it is very spare money we overpay. Whilst I would like to clear the mortgage it's not because we'll be staying in our current house or need to. However, it would be nice for my wife and I to clear the mortgage ourselves.

Access to money is a little complicated in this house, on a day to day basis we don't really have a lot (really do feel poor sometimes) but we have quite a few collectable assets and through my business / parents I have access to quite a lot of cash if needed. I deliberately pay myself very little because I'd just spend it and for tax purposes. To be honest, I have little motivation for life because I don't need to do anything and will still be financially alright.

Re. wheels, they're up for sale. :)

That's a good idea. I did consider a combined OP / savings target but didn't get around to it after a disastrous start to the year. I've not been updating my savings for a few weeks but I am still paying in the £30 per week.

I don't have any motivation because it just doesn't feel worthwhile a lot of the time.

No luck with the wheels so far.

Today hasn't been great. The weather has been awful and we've spent the day working on our kitchen. First time this year we've really done any work to the house. I've managed to lose my temper with my son over him wanting to eat chocolate eggs kindly bought for him by my parents-in-law and brother-in-law. Still am annoyed by his conduct but my wife seems to think I'm the one with the problem.:mad::mad:

On the positive side today has been a NSD.

On the positive side today has been a NSD.

    1. Get to it. We all like to see, how everyone is doing with saving/op'ing :) (Cause we're nosy :p)

    2. What would make it worthwhile - would thinking that your inheritance/safety net disappeared for a month help  Do you think that would make it worthwhile and give you motivation? :)

    3. Give the wheels time :money:

    4. Yes, weathers a pain, but that's when we can get jobs done in the house, wouldn't want to be indoors working away doing odd jobs, when there is lovely weather outside - so make the most of the bad weather, and get some jobs done in the house. :j

    5. Your son is still young and seeing his eggs there, would be such a temptation, a bit like Christmas. Patience is something kids don't have. I admit to eating an egg on Friday :o and one on Saturday :o but that was allowed as it was my Easter birthday :p

Thinking it through - what would have been the worse thing that could happen - allowing one egg to be eaten - you would have one less to eat the next day :) Not worth getting stressed about :D

:T Well done on the NSD :T :easter:

:rotfl: I like your reasoning. ;) Will get to it when I've got a little free time. Today has been a good one in terms of productivity ... Gally would be proud if she saw what we've managed to do with the house, from bombsite to something resembling a civilised residence. Also managed to do some work for my course (finally :j) and the egg hunt. Not bad to say I didn't sleep until 4am ...
    2. What would make it worthwhile - would thinking that your inheritance/safety net disappeared for a month help  Do you think that would make it worthwhile and give you motivation? :)

:rotfl: That would make me feel ill! Honestly, cannot think how I'd get through life if I didn't have the "safety net". :o Yes, I know it's embarrassing.
    3. Give the wheels time :money:

    Will do. :)

We've done rather well with the house this weekend, I think.

First of all Happy Birthday, Frayed Knot. :D

Another NSD today but hardly surprising as there's nowhere open to spend money as far as I'm aware.

I realise this now re. not getting stressed about the eggs. Lost my temper with son again this morning then caught my wife telling him that sometimes "Daddy gets into a bad mood beyond his control" ... Realised my son can do without growing up with me being angry about him wanting to eat an Easter egg before dinner on Easter Sunday. No desire to turn into my father, so apologised and we had half an egg far too early in the day after breakfast. :rotfl:

In my book half an egg after breakfast is the sensible option, surely at Easter, eggs are FOR breakfast :p

    Happy Easter Alex :EasterBun

Incredibly civilised I think. We'd have had it FOR breakfast :EasterBun
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I had the bits which came with my egg for lunch and then my actual egg for dinner yesterday! :D (I should hasten to add that I fed the children 'proper' food! :D)
