Flights to Perth

Hi guys and gals,

Looking at booking flights to Perth soon as me and the gf want to go for Christmas to visit her family. Question is when is best time to book and what airlines are best or best to avoid. I've seen some really cheap flights with some Chinese airlines but are they any better or any worse than the bigger airlines such as BA, Qantas, FlyEmirates etc?

Thanks in advance

Christmas is peak time for Oz, the flights would have been released over a month ago. You are not going to find sale or discounted fares for travel out after around 10th December so flights will be expensive and probably carry on rising
Have a look at seatguru to compare leg room - it is a long time to sit if the legroom is tight
Are you planning to have a stopover? it could help decide which airline would suit

Agree, you should book as soon as you can. BA don't fly to Perth so from the ones you mention Qantas and Emirates are generally 'good', so too would be Etihad, Singapore Airlines are excellent and if you look here, https://www.airlinequality.com you might see a good reason to avoid China Eastern, although China Southern seems rather better. You have to decide which is most important, time or money, generally the shorter flights are more expensive, if you are prepared to fly for 30 hours rather than 19, you deserve to get it for less, I found 21 hours to Sydney as much as I could cope with and that was in Business class, the furthest I flew in economy was to Honolulu at 19 hours and I was a zombie on arrival!

BA may offer a routing via HKG with a code share on Cathay Pacific, could be good if you fancy a stop over in HKG.

I have just booked a flight to Perth I am able to go at any time so can avoid the steep prince increases I am going 7th Dec fly back 13th Jan
I normally fly Singapore although have flown Qantas Emirates as well This time after asking some questions have booked Emirates as the flight is,£300 cheaoer
Layovers are just under 3hrs Unbelievably only £694 It was £50 less when I was checking over 3 days £645 £615 with Net flights but I prefer to book direct with the airline Flight increases to in excess of £1100 on the 8th
Singapore Airlines was £906 and £965

Update I had booked my Emirates fare to travel to Perth 7th Dec - 13th Jan That fare of £694 I paid is now £1140 so a huge increase It answered the question I had posed earlier book now or later ! How delighted am I that I followed the advice to book then by the people who answered my question Sue
