This is the first time I have done it (too much time spent on here no doubt) so no idea what they will taste like - fingers crossed for home made lime pickle and curry in the autumn...:j0 -
I used to use it but stopped buying it about two months ago. I used to use it alot when cooking, I now use a batch of washable napkins. Someone said you have to make the outlay first. But once you've done that its fine. The napkins just get washed along with the other washing, ironed and put back.0

I use it and buy the best quality. It's only rarely used but it's sometimes necessary. Whenever possible it ends up in the kitchen compost bucket for emptying into the compost bin.
Shredded paper goes in the compost bin too - in layers - so it's not wasted either.0 -
I have honestly never understood what I would need it for. So never bought it.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I haven't bought any for ages and the only time I miss it is when I make wedges or anything that needs excess fat absorbing. I keep meaning to buy some just for that reason but always forget when I order the shopping.
I used to use loads but use lots of cloths for spills and so on.0 -
I use it. I buy Bounty, and have trained myself to pull off 1 piece at a time.
Great for cleaning up when the cats have been sick, or have left us a present. I don't use my microfibre cloths for that sort of thing.
Also use it to drain water off my poached eggs (sit the slotted spoon conaining the egg on top of a piece of crumpled towel), and for draining fat off chips etc.0 -
I only use it to drain anything I have deep fried like vetcook or similar. Then it goes into the composter. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

This might sound terrible to some of you but i use old terry nappies from 24 years ago, they are still in VGC, i cut them into 4 squares and they are fine for using to mop up either the cat sick or the ducks poop, then put in a bucket of bleach or disinfectant then use the hot wash in the washing machine.

I buy kitchen towels in November - mainly to use as napkins for my son's birthday party. They then get used occasionally from then but there is always enough left for my DD's party the following April...
rigsby, I don't think that sounds awful at all - in fact I doubt if anyone here does - it sounds like a great use of resources to me!0 -
the problem i've found with having kitchen roll in the house is that as much as i try to use it sensibly, everyone else in the family seems to be on a mission to use as much of it as possible in the shortest time!weaving through the chaos...0
