Kitchen Towel - Do you use it?

Hi, I am currently trying to cut down on my grocery spend and was thinking about kitchen towel. Now i always have it in and use it loads, but my Mum only gets in now and again. So I was wondering if you fellow money savers purchase kitchen towel and if you don't how do you go on without it. I buy loads of this stuff for general cleaning, eg. windows, cleaning the babies high chairs etc.
I realise this sounds a bit silly, but it has just struck me that my Mum never used to get this when I was groing up and I really rely on it so can I save a bit of money here?

I use it quite a bit too, especially for cleaning out my rabbit's litter trays and hutches etc. I only ever buy the budget kitchen roll and don't notice any difference as I'd use the same amount whether it was expensive or cheap. Like your mum, mine doesn't use it, preferring dishclothes which she washes out daily.2025 - Declutter to Move House

Nope - never buy it - consider it a complete waste of money - I've got lots of microfibre and other clothes - all washable and reusable and they do all the things I need - ok so it might be more outlay to start with but much easier to wash and reuse than waste money on stuff you throw away."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Mainly use old rags for general spills. They are washed and occasionally bleached when dirty. I do by kitchen roll though. I use it mainly for warming up smoked mackerel in the MW. It absorbs some of the oil which I don't like too much of. It is also used for emergencies in the kitchen eg. when I sneeze and my hankie is in another pocket, or spills are running fast and I can't get to the cloth in time. I have just bought a 4 roll pack for £1 In the cheap shop. The last ones I bought must have been 2 years ago. LOL0

i use kitchen roll when wiping kitchen worktops, for puttin a sandwich on (saves washing up),
i buy a jumbo roll in morrisons for £2. something and it lasts me for ages.0 -
I do use it but only now again - I prefer hotwater and a dish cloth - only buy the cheap stuff and it lasts us ages.

I used to but then realised that I didn't really mind if we ran out. I have rtons of really cheap dishcloths from Asda, they get washed every day or two. I use them for cleaning the suirfaces, sink, table, floor (not the same cloth obviously!).
I used to use kitchen roll to dry salad veg, now I just use a clean teatowel which either then gets dried and used, or washed.
I also use Asda smart price tissues (27p a box) and have a box on the go in the kitchen all the time. Handy for their snotty noses, or if I need to pick up a clump of food off the floor and don't want to get a dishcoth out just for that.
I decided to stop using it altogether for the cost but also as it seems so wasteful to be filling the bin with more and more paper.

Used to, but we now buy 100 'J' type cloths on a roll. Much better as they can be rinsed through and used over and over again.0

I do buy it but much less regular, I get one every now and again which is a jumbo roll from the £1 shop, I use it mainly for dealing with excess fat on food. I also use lots of cloths, then do a boil wash to clean the washer out and throw these in at the same time. Any spills, window wiping, dusting etc done with cloths. One day I might be more organised...........

I must admit, I use to use kitchen roll like it was going out of fashion, but now, I dont use it as often.
After learning great tips about old t-shirts,towels etc, instead of binning them, cut them into rags. I have a carrier bag full now under the sink, easy to reach, and can either be washed/bleached or thrown away.
OH use to use loads when cleaning out the rabbit hutch, now he's got into the idea of using rags more!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
