Kitchen Towel - Do you use it?

Years ago my targets for when we were no longer as poor as the proverbial church mouse were that we'd be able to afford "good" instant coffee and kitchen rolls! Now that, approaching retirement, I realise that I need to watch the pennies as well as the pounds, I think the coffee will stay, but I am going to try to reduce the amount of kitchen towel I get through - I do use it for every little spill when a cloth would easily do the trick!Resolution:

I do use it but tend to cut a few pieces at a time into 4 small squares. When I want to reach for a piece to e.g grease a baking tray or blow my nose, these are a perfect size.
A small saving but it certainly makes a roll last longer.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I gave up kitchen roll (sounds like it's a terrible vice, doesn't it?) about 18 months ago and i really haven't missed it.
I use dishcloths and they get washed with the teatowels on a hot wash.
good tip about using old t shirts as rags...sometimes you need something for cleaning up more unpleasant spills!weaving through the chaos...0 -
all the time and I buy the best quality. I use it mainly for wiping kitchen worktops and also after washing the loo etc. Much more hygenic than a cloth. No washing. No detergents. No tummy aches etc
maybe 1 roll a month but only 2 of us and no pets0 -
I use kitchen roll, but very rarely, I prefer to use rag etc & I use a dustpan & brush & a scrubbing brush to clean out Thumper & Ogden.

I use a combination of kitchen roll and dishcloth - depending on the job. I buy the budget 4 roll pack from ASDA and it lasts me around a month per roll - this thread has mnade me consider all the paper that's being thrown away though....Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0

Don't people have a rag bag anymore- old decrepit T-shirts, clean old knicker/pants etc - if used for paint - chuck `em, if not wash - hot - and reuse.0

Usually use it only for mopping up grease before washing up, but recently the cat has been very ill and kitchen roll was (is) a godsend for cleaning up off the carpets.
We have gone through a whole roll this week though, so I suppose it's a bit wasteful, although I can see the OH's face if I suggested he clean up after the cat with a cloth!!"All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -
we do buy it but hardly use it these days - I have been converted to using old rags and cloths to wipe up spills, clean highchairs and so on.
But it is handy for some things; such as sitting food on after frying to absorb some of the oil. The other week I pickled some limes and had to salt them and I sat the limes on kitchen roll for that - couldn't think what else to use. Perhaps muslin cloth.0 -
