Bank changing date of Standing Order

I have a SO going out to my Landlord on a weekly basis(Mondays). This has been running for the past 5 years. This week the money left the account as usual on Mon 3rd March. Then for some strange reason the Bank took it again on Friday 6th, with the next payment due Friday 13th. I'm hoping to get to my local branch on Tuesday, but thought I would ask on here if anybody has had the same problem. I can't understand why the bank would change the dates of the SO which has been running for years & without notifying me. Help please. Thank you

Sounds like either an error or a change to the way they process SOs, in which case you should have been informed of a change to the T&Cs of the account. Which bank is it?

I'd be complaining and expecting some reimbursement for the hassle.

banks don't change the dates of SO, its controlled by the account holder, worth a call to the Helpdesk/customer services if you don't want to wait till Tuesday as they will have a team of advisors who will be able to help,

it does seem strange for the date to change out of the blue after you have had the SO running for so long....

    give your bank a call

I would also suggest calling, your branch may or may not be able to get to the bottom of it but the call centre should be able to.

You're sure it is a standing order rather than a direct debit?

I read something not too long ago about Natwest changing the way they process incoming and outgoing payments at weekends. No doubt stclair will be commenting before long but in the meantime the OP should go and talk to Natwest.

I'm not sure what's happened in this instance.

However as colsten has correctly noted a system change is being implemented shortly that means payments due for a Monday will actually debit or credit on the Monday rather than the Saturday as they do at present.

Could it be that OP missed one payment - the bank tries to pay the outstanding payment when the available balance allows?
This is how Lloyds S/O works so may be the same for Nat West.

The retry process will try to collect funds at 2.30am if the funds are not available they will try again at 14.30pm on the same day.
