Repair tilt and turn double glazed window

I have an old tilt and turn UPVC window in one of my bedrooms - it was in place when we bought the property in 1998.
When the window mechanism is turned to tilt a metal "bar" comes down in the right hand opening corner to stop it opening fully. I don't know much about windows, so I don't know if all tilt and turn windows work like this or if these types of mechanisms have been changed/ modernised since 1998.
Anyway, the end of the metal bar has snapped off and now it will not tilt or lock open in tilted position - it will only lock closed or open fully.
Is there any way to repair this or will I have to replace the whole window ?
I would be grateful for any advice
