Thank you so much to the people that have replied to my question on what happens to the vehicle road tax, It Is most kind of you.
With reference to the higher rate care component which I receive, Do I have to arrange to get a carer In to replace my wife, Or are there other option's? please.
Thanks again for all your help so far.

call your local social services and ask for an adult assessment.
there may be funding to help towards a care package, either through social services providing carers or direct payments for you to employ your own

You don't have to get a carer in to carry on getting the care component if that's what your asking?? It's paid for the care you need, not get

When you live on your own you will be entitled to claim Severe Disablity Premium if no one is claiming carers allowance for you. Also look into Enhanced Premium too.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • Thank you for that Howmuch.
As with other comments and suggestion's your help is most welcome, I did not expect the level of help I have been given on here, That has helped in so many ways.

    Hi Billisniper

if you havn't done so already PHONE CARERS ALLOWANCE... Your wife is no longer eligible as she no longer wants to be your carer.... Get them to remove her as carer.

Then phone Income support / ESA / incapacity benefit (whichever applies to you) ASK FOR FORM IS10 ***THIS MEANS YOU CAN NOW CLAIM *** ENHANCED SEVERE DISABLEMENT PREMIUM (EDP OR SDP) *** AS YOU MAY HAVE AN UNDERLYING ENTITLEMENT / as you are already getting DLA CARE HIGHER RATE *** YOU DONT GET THIS BENEFIT WHEN YOU HAVE A CARER ***

With regards to the car if its a mobility car (you dont get paid your DLA higher rate MOBILITY component)

If its a private car with disabled tax (then you will have to get the taxation class put back to private light goods ect)... Any remaining "disabled" tax will also need to be returned!!!

    Hope that helps!!!

Appologies if i have repeated anything anyone else has said I am blind .the software isnt brilliant as vast volumes of text..so everything is mostly from memory cheers
  • Thank you Scott T. for your advice on my question It's greatly appreciated, And will help in my quest to sort things out.
