Anyone had bad experiences of buying top brand names second hand. ..washers, vacuums, fridge freezer etc
Is no or short warranty a concern?

these things are cheap new, why get used, it probably won't save you much at all...why would someone get rid of a working vacuum! chances are it's on it's last legs or repaired and will break again soon, not worth the risk for the small, if any, saving.0 -
Vacuum, standalone cooker, fridge freezer, washer. ...about 800 total minimum for basic models
I could get brands like miele cheap on ebay
Some are lister as with transferable warranty
I could save several hundreds especially as FTB
some people get rid as they upgrade or move to bigger places with bigger families0 -

all true but it's a big risk.
buying none top rands with a 5 year warranty would work too,

2 years or for £320 5 years.
I just bought a Meile vacuum for £130 from AO
A Lec fridge again for £130.
I'll take new with a warranty over ebay everytime.
Just do the maths and I bet the saving is not worth the risk0 -
Bought a freezer on gumtree, £10. If it dies, buy another. As long as it doesn't catch fire.....Tough times never last longer than tough people.0

Fridge, freezer, most cookers (apart from those with electronic timer modules) are fairly simple with not a lot to go wrong and usually readily-available parts for repair.
Vacuums often die because their filters are clogged. This includes Dysons which can often be repaired with new parts for a fraction of the cost of a new machine. I had a vacuum out of the communal wheelie bin where the handle had snapped off. Glued it on twice and got several years' use out of it before I killed it with plaster dust.
Washing machines are more complicated so more worth having a guarantee. That doesn't rule out a second-hand machine from a business seller though, where you still have statutory rights.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Thanks.
I've seen stiff from argos which works out same or cheaper than ao.
Was going for a cheap new dyson at 220-200. ..are miele better by the way for vacuum. ..Sounds like I could save 100 there.
Bosch are supposed to be best for reasonably priced washers. ..seen for under 3000 -

When we were renting our house, we bought an undercounter fridge and freezer, as thats all that would fit. They were second hand and I guess cost us around £60 for the two.
That was 6 Years ago and have since moved, but they were still pristine in condition when we left them behind so well worth it for us.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Meile are by many said to be better.
I got a Candy washer from Currys for £199,it's great 1600 spin, saves on drying too.
I was a bit of a brand snob once, but I now see a lot of these things are made in the same factories, I now buy froma good retailer and if really worried buy a cheaper model with a good warranty.
Bosch I think were once good but reading reviews not so much now.0
