Nationwide know that any of its "competitors" who havent recently reduced rates will subsequently reduce their rates and thus further Nationwide B.S Savings rate reductions will take place. :(

Just received a call from "Hannah" at Nationwide explaining that their letter of 24th February 2015 was actually sent out on the same day and that the 16 day delay in reaching me is not their fault.

The person that called me with same explanation was called "Hannah". Seems like she drew the short straw

Just wanted to update the board with regards to my complaint to Nationwide about their failure to give 30 days notice.

After receiving what I thought was my final response letter; I received a second final letter two days later, (after I submitted my FOS complaint), in which they stated that the required period of notice was now only 14 days. This was now effectively the third different reason given by Nationwide.

However the letter also brought good news as:-"in recognition of the incorrect information provided to you, I would like to offer you £50.00 compensation." Exactly which piece(s) of information was incorrect I may never know.

Hopefully this will give some hope to others to complain and/or file a FOS complaint.

If you accept the £50, you can't the complaint to the FOS. Depends on how strong you feel about it whether you take the £50 or whether you keep defending your case.

I haven't received any notification of a rate drop. Only got a few quid in there, was going to add a lot more, not now of course.

Guess I should complain but they'll say they sent a letter and I can't prove it wasn't delivered, so it'd be a waste of time as the customer is never believed in these matters.

The offer was made after I submitted my complaint to the FOS; but I have now withdrawn my complaint and accepted the £50.

I was told by Nationwide that if there's less than £100 in your account then they didn't have to write.

Well I did complain and the reason they gave for not informing me of the interest rate change was because I'd opted out of marketing (!) LOL.

I always opt out of marketing, which an interest rate change isn't. It hasn't stopped anyone else telling me about a rate change. I think they are just making it up as they go along.

I'm generally supportive of Nationwide but if that was given as an excuse for not telling you of a rate change - it is unacceptable. Take it further, I suspect it was a poorly trained operative but it will help them to train properly.
