Also there would be a lot of people who would be glad then that you're not a DM. Many people rely on letters from family/friend that know them really well because for a lot of people this would be their main form of evidence, apart from a letter from their GP. Many people have care and/or mobility issues that don't have specialists or consultants. So many people fail to understand what PIP is all about and i was simply giving suggestions of types of evidence. The trouble with some people on here is they're too quick to judge people.....

I'm not saying that letters of that nature are not helpful, but let's be honest 'Uncle Jim' or maybe the 'Claimant's Partner'
could maybe be persuaded by the offer of a pint or a new pair of shoes to write anything.
Those types of letters are at best suspect and at worst could be a load of old baloney - they are not independent nor are they beyond reproach of not being biased.

As for a diary, we could all make one up to 'support' our claim. I could very well spend an hour or so compiling one that would suggest that I am entitled to the enhanced rates of PIP without question. But would it be a true representation of my abilities?

As SAVYKATE said in the above post:

The supporting evidence I provided was a list of about 11 specialists I'm under and their contact numbers (including physio, occupational therapist, pain management clinic, geneticist, etc), my current prescription list and I did copies of all relevant letters from my hospital consultants and therapists over the last year (there was about 20 and I put them in date and department order). The letters explained beautifully how my life is affected in day to day activities.

That is the sort of evidence that would get results. No mistaking the unbiased nature from independent qualified people.
