down with a cold and went to usual hated store, needed daily items and couldn't bear extra driving, so quick in quick out, grabbed a few hb hc items on the way and tried my luck, in a numb mood as one always do when feeling ill. prepared to dump everything apart from essentials when in trouble. sa scanned everything but some £1 hb and 50 pts rejected by till machine. no energy to figure out why. another sa waiting to change shift told off happy scanner for accepting too many coupons , one told her i bought 4 of these, look! stared at her with big bloody eyes , she mumbled all right with head down all blushed... one must looked either scary or authoritative when feeling ill
, maybe it was the numb/ p*** off mood replaced the fear worry ones. feeling empowered by illness and fearless, confidently handed over a coupon of mocs, all accepted. got 2 slimfast 4 plax 8 wipes milk and dinner for a few quid. happy as bunny. :rotfl:
is there anyone on slimfast? it creates too much wind to a health and safety work environment , apology for being graphical. does it happen to others? i only got 4 tins maybe i should stop if that's a normal side effect. need to find something else for hc, got enough multivitamin, don't want chewable omega (yuck), no idea what to get, any suggestion?
 Known as Slim Fart in our household0 -
I’ve just had a lovely experience down at my local Mr T’s.
I was hunting down the H&B section (using my calculator ‘cos I’m a newbie to H&B shopping, and I still get confused lol) when a lovely sa approached me with some H&B coupons. She thought they were expiring today and wanted to make sure I got some money off whilst they were still valid. Needless to say, I thankfully took a number of them from her.:T
She explained how I should go for the bogof items, cos I’ll save lots of money using the coupons, and then said that I should split my shop up when paying, in order to use all the vouchers. I asked if this was ok with the sa’s on the tills, and she said “oh yes, you’ll have no problems, and if you do just tell them it’s for your mum”.:rotfl:
One thing she did mention though, (it’s been discussed here but it’s interesting to have it confirmed by a Mr T sa) is that Mr T is starting to change items at short notice from bogof to half price in order to combat the big voucher/bogof combination savings. Yeah, as if that’d put us MSErs off eh?
My sa was brilliant though, she was encouraging me to get as much as I could for as little as I could. I hope she’s not a disgruntled employee who’s leaving soon ‘cos I’d like to bump into her again. I just wish some of the witches on the tills could be as nice and accommodating as her.0 -
I thought it worked for every £2 spent not per item?? I've only ever used 2 at a time, but I know others have used loads in one go, so didn't think it mattered how many items.
Think you`ll find it will only accept 4 as you`ve only bought 4 items
It isn't one per item its one per £2 spent so you can use as many as the SA will accept....as long as you have spent enough...and it works on the total before BOGOFS0 -
One per item in my store, so if you spent £10 on one item the till will only take 1 50 pointer. I always try to add a couple of very low priced items so I can get the max no of 50 pointers through, i.e. 5 on a £10 spend before special offers. This is a till thing, not the operator0

There is definately a link between the number of items bought and the number of points coupons you can use. Yes, it does say per £2 spend on the coupon, but I have done shops with just over £12 of H&B with 5 items, handed over 6 coupons and only had 5 accepted (even after prompting the SA to use the gun). I then did exactly the same shop immediately afterwards, but added a 13p value gel - which did not move me into the next £2 spend and had all 6 accepted."Life was easier when I didn't have a clue"0 -

Which prawns by the way? I'll try a packet on the scanner tomorrow.
Of course the dtd policy was not abided to:rolleyes: .............but didn't think it was worth pushing for.........it was the frozen raw tiger prawns that managed to add on an extra 12 quid;)0 -
