  • Oh and before I forget, Typhoo tea is on bogof for the 160 pack at £2.38, but! there is a £1 off your next pack on the side of the bag so actual cost is just 38p for 320 teabags!

The packs in my local Mr Ts didnt have any vouchers in.
Never mind , I bought some anyway as it is a good deal and tea bags will always get used.:D

  • I'm beginning to hate the sight of my H&B coupons  they are turning into such major stress to use.

In among my normal shopping I got the JF on 3 for 2, another shampoo I wanted and an Eden Range deodorant. It was pretty busy and couldn't find a "sure bet" sa, so went to one I have used before without any trouble.

All went well til I handed over my coupons. She looked at the So Beautiful haircare coupon and told me that I hadn't bought that.. I pointed out that I had - John Frieda is listed on the coupon... and as I said, it wouldn't scan if I hadn't. She scanned that one through reluctantly, but then looked at all of my other coupons, put all the Tesco one's to one side, went through my 5 allowed ones and scanned the 3 smallest ones [deliberate - she pulled out the largest one], than announced that I hadn't bought any of the other items on the Tesco coupons.

I showed her the Eden Range deodorant, so she couldn't argue with that, but when I said the others were qualifying spend coupons, that I had spent enough and they would not scan otherwise, she insisted that I hadn't bought the products and then announced that she had scanned 5 coupons, so that was it. I told her I'd go to CS then as I had spent enough, which she said was fine. By now the woman behind me must have thought I was attempting to defraud Tesco of millions. I hadn't bothered trying multiple coupons either, as that just isn't working anymore unless you strike really lucky.

I was steaming by this point so did go to CS.. after all I hadn't got many coupons put through!!

CS couldn't understand why they hadn't been scanned.. said the wording was sometimes misleading [how - so much off if you spend so much - quite simple]. She put through a 50 points coupon and gave me cash back for a £2.50 H&B and a £1.25 Quit coupon.

She reiterated what I know to be store policy - You can have any Tesco coupons as long as you have bought the products, THEN 5 assorted coupons for items you haven't bought, but are sold in store, on top of those. Its a pity not all their sa's understand that policy then!

Rant over.. 2 Baileys chocs consummed.. feel better now.. tomorrow is another day.. :D

:( its all too stressful isnt it !

i have been having difficulty with my H&B shops the past 2 days

posted about it on the H&B shopping list thread

oh well it was fin while it lasted :rotfl: and we are well stcoked up with toiletries now :D
  • Rachie B,

Tesco has become more and more stressful of late and as you say, we are well stocked up. I'll still try and use my H&B's, but if I get that amount of hassle again, being made to feel like some kind of criminal when I was actually only trying to do what my stores policy allows, I may just say - "Well void the lot of it then - I don't want it!"

Some sa's are such jobsworths that you would think it was their money being given away. One thing is for sure, her face is imprinted on my memory for all time :D

  • Hello my fellow h&b addicts  I'm not going to go to tescos today, electricians are here and I am feeling guilty as the capiz shell and bead chandelier for my bedroom was quite heavy and they had to reinforce the ceiling above but it looks amazing - at last though I have electric in the extension.

Also a big MSE welcome to happywelshshopper  good ID, I usually am a happy welshy as long as the vouchers are accepted. I am finding one each of the vouchers are readily accepted but multiples are sometimes returned.

I am going to do a h&b shop tomorrow and hopefully use up the 40p quit toothpaste vouchers. Can someone confirm they are accepted on any toothpaste ?

    cheers Welshy x

    Hi Welshy

I've used them on a couple of different kids toothpastes and on Aquafresh.

I would definitely agree with others about how a lot of the Tesco stores attitudes have changed towards using coupons and the lengths some SA's will go to in order to stop you using them e.g. pretending to scan them etc when they haven't. In my experience now, even when you are following their store policy, they are still looking for reasons to reject the coupons. Even the DM £4.50 coupon, two Tesco places wouldn't accept it from me this morning and I wasn't even using any H&B ones.

I've given up on the DM one and given it away but I will still try and use the H&B ones because Tesco wouldn't be printing them if they didn't want us to use them. I just wish the staff didn't treat me with such aggression and disrespect whenever I use the H&B coupons. Luckily I have a very thick skin and at the moment, I still feel the benefits outweigh a few moments of aggression and disgust from the SA's and their supervisors/managers.:j
  • Thats what's so annoying... Tesco produce these coupons themselves, then some of their staff do their level best to stop you from benefitting from them.. even when you are using them correctly..

I normally avoid CS as much as possible, but twice this week have had money back on coupons I should have been allowed at the till.. and even CS don't understand why they weren't scanned!

Hiya Welshy :j and other Fellow H&B Fanatics ;) -

The 40p Colgate scans against the 29p Tesco's own toothpaste in the white/green box. Had a couple in my shopping today to get over the £10. I also managed to get some Healthcare as this store stocks the £3.99 Strawberry SlimFast which is on BOGOF at the mo for £3.99, add in 13p Aspirin and hey presto, more free goodies.

Had two shops seperately on the belt today and used a DM in each successfully, after having it handed back last night at a different store. But just noticed that the Weetabix minis BOGOF did not come off, nor the BOGOF on the Tortilla Wraps  , so feel another visit coming, probably tomorrow morning when I can escape without the kids! Must remember the receipt. Now, where to store the toiletries before OH gets home...
