Had I done this at home I would have done a lot differently ...
I'd Start off with the quality of the welding on the beam.... looks like it was done by a blind man.

But its not a home project, its in a school , done on a budget, The weld is safe ? As a School Governor would have no problems with the install.

As a time served electrician, there is nothing wrong with that installation; the trunking has been cut that way to ensure that it fits flush to the wall.

I would have (and have done) exactly the same thing.

Looks good, but without an overall photo (it could be in a shower) is very hard to say.

Were the electricians Part P qualified?

Part P is a section of the Building Regulations - the "Part P" you are thinking of is specifically a section of the Building Regulations in England and Wales.

It is not a qualification and hence it is impossible for anyone to be "Part P qualified" - and if they were to tell you otherwise I would suggest that they are being dishonest.

If you must use trunking use a Trunking Surface Pattress that’s what there for no reason not to other than sloppy workmanship and save grief ingression protection etc. Most would specify conduit instead of trunking in a school for a multitude of reasons but thats the difference between a well thought out installation and one thats not ?

Typically in a school the spec will require that the containment is galvanised rather than PVC.

PVC or metal conduit selection etc Is defined by installation, height, external influences, location etc
Selection should be made by assessing each installation individually not what the Typical spec of other jobs are as all are different....
