Leaving TalkTalk rant and warning

If you call TalkTalk to tell them you are leaving for another provider (PlusNet in my case), don't let them cancel your line before installation of your new service....
It has resulted in my PlusNet order being cancelled without PlusNet telling me, a pointless day at home waiting for the no-show engineer and my order being pushed back to square 1.
This is because the cease on the line raised by TalkTalk causes the PlusNet request to be rejected.
Most galling of all is when you call TalkTalk to get the cease removed they won't take no for an answer when you politely decline to discuss why you are leaving their service. The "loyalty agent" kept bringing up his "why are you leaving the home of fibre optic broadband?" script literally every time I paused for breath.
Feels like deliberate obstruction to maximise their revenues.

It is good to warn people so they can learn from your mistakes. It is always best NOT to notify your current ISP of your intention to move, but just to place the order with the new ISP, who will inform the old one. Otherwise exactly the sort of thing you have experienced can happen.
It is particularly important if you want to keep your phone number0 -

...but if you don't get a MAC from your existing supplier it MAY cause a cancellation /cease of the service with resultant loss of broadband for days if not weeks and extra charges. I say MAY, because to further complicate the issue, some ISPs are not issuing or accepting/using MACs !!!:mad:0
