wireless connection help please

IM currently with AOL and I have wireless internet well I used to, it seems to go off every 5 or 10 mins and its driving me mad. The signal stength is excellent and the speed is anything between 10 and at the moment 24mbps this doesnt mean anything to me lol. Also I have crackling on my phone line.
Can anyone help?
I was thinking of changing to BT home hub thing option 3 anyway!

    If you have crackling on your line, changing from AOL wireless to a BT Home Hub won't help will it? Have you tried changing your ADSL filters? Have you tried connecting to the master socket to eliminate any extension wiring?
