Kitchen Comparisons

I need to source a new kitchen (units & appliances) and keep hearing that German are best. Visited showroom yesterday to see Crown Imperial which is supposedly comparable. However despite direct question of how much? answer was on a par with others!
In the sheds etc you often see 8 unit comparison price so you can decide whether you want to spend 00's or 000's.
I've previously had kitchens from MFI. Howdens & Wren.
Can someone please give me an idea of the prices of other suppliers so that I have an idea before making an idiot of myself and arranging survey or showroom visits?

Thanks

The only way to get prices is ask for a quote I'm afraid. Lot's of people will supply Crown Imperial units but all at different prices. Crown Imperial are fine by the way, one snooty kitchen company told us not to use Crown as they are flat pack kitchens. They're all flat pack until they're put together, that either happens at their place or your's.

Look at Diy-kitchens.com. I've just bought a kitchen from them based on recommendations on this forum. They have a useful comparison on their website between themselves and Howdens, Wren etc.

EssexExile- Crown flat pack is cam and dowel assembly not dissimilar to what Ikea sell. A cam and dowel kitchen is very unlikely to be the same level of rigidity, squareness etc as a proper jig assembled glued and dowelled carcase.

Saying that were all flat pack once is like saying food at a Michelin start restaurant is the same as cheap supermarket own brand frozen stuff.

Apart from the method of manufacture, Crown are generally quite expensive for what they are and pretty average manufacture. Other British manufacturers to better quality at lower prices.

Once they're in they're not going anywhere, been in 10 years & still good as new.

A while ago we went to a supplier who built the units from scratch in their workshop, they were very solid & very expensive. We ordered a few units for use in a bathroom & told them if we were happy we'd order the kitchen from them. The units were damaged in transit & had to be replaced. We didn't get the kitchen from them obviously, we got the Crown Imperial from another supplier & they arrived packed in cardboard boxes.

I think the fitting is more important than whether they are delivered flat or not.

If they arent going anywhere after fitting why not Wickes or homebase?

Wickes IMO are on par with Crown for a lot less.

BTW EssexExile - As long as you are happy with your purchase thats great. As far as OP is concerned, my advise would be to look into German if you are going to stretch to Crown money. You will probably be able to buy German and wont regret it.

Essentially yes because the knowledgeable people on this forum are usually more than happy to help. What I'm asking for is some idea of approximately the 8 unit comparison that the sheds use.
If you don't have anything useful to contribute why waste your time typing a miss spelt response?

Bearing in mind this was over 10 years ago, the quality of finish on Wickes, B&Q & especially Homebase were far inferior to Crown. I haven't looked lately so perhaps they've improved.

Based on current form, Wickes have definitely upped their game.
