I thought Clydesdale was just a name and not a place. Also, that google map shows Clydesdale Guest House, which isn't even in a place called Clyesdale. I assume the bank isn't named after a Guest House...

Maybe OP thought it was just an Internet bank. I actually have a current account with them. I'm close enough to get to the London branch but not had the need to.

I would suggest cancelling if it doesn't suit purposes or not bother with an additional card holder (otherwise, make a trip to London :D )

Mozzy10: I chose this card as it was listed by MSE as the one with the longest non-fee deal. I card-tart and with some of the others haven't closed the account long enough ago to qualify for new customer deals.
Well despite all the sarcasm on this thread I just wanted to say thanks, LennieC, for sharing your experience. I'm in a similar position and I've been considering both the Clydesdale Credit Card (0% for 20 months) and Current Account (£150 switch bonus and 2% in-credit interest), both MSE top picks, and as a result of your feedback will be going the Yorkshire Bank (sister bank) route for the exact same products instead... if at all. So thank you for sharing - much appreciated. :)

Surely an adult living in the UK should have enough geographical awareness to know the Clyde is a river in Glasgow and hence infer Clydesdale Bank might be Scottish? Similarly, I've vaguely heard of "Thames Valley", which I deduce is likely to be in the south (east?) of England so if there were a Thames Valley bank, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have a branch near me.

Pontificating on people's general knowledge aside, I wouldn't generally care where the bank was based when taking out a credit card. I have several accounts with different banks and I have visited very few of them. In this age of the internet I wouldn't expect not having branch access to be a problem.
Clydesdale is one bank I have been to - I couldn't open my current account with them online - which was massively inconvenient because it took me about 20 whole minutes to walk there!

It is definitely worth pointing out that with Clydesdale it's very useful to be able to go to a branch and I'm sure that will be helpful to others.
It does sound like there's a work-around though if you just have to apply for the second card later.

i'm south of the border, so in 'Yorkshire territory'.. i have found them to be poor, service-wise too.. but i just have Current and Savings accounts with them. i don't feel inclined to apply for a credit card with them: there are better deals, with good service, elsewhere.

We live in London, and applied for, and got, a CB card (long free interest rate deal).

I also applied for an additional card holder, (DH), and they just sent the documents through, no proof required, with the recommended limit on the back, as OP said.

I don't know why the OP is having to prove ID, but can you not just scan some ID and send by email attachment?

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Apparently not Morglin they said they won't take email copies.

And now ... by way of an update ... I have now received the card and contacted them as directed to add the additional user and have now been told that there is no way around this - we HAVE to take ID to a branch.

Also - Before signing up I enquired about managing the card account online and was told that this would be easy to set up by calling them when I received the card.

I have now been told that there is no online banking facility for Credit Card only accounts and I would have to set up a current account to qualify.

It seems that the 'New Business' contact I spoke to just told me whatever I needed to hear to get me to sign up. Do these guys work on commission?

Needless to say I have cancelled this card and applied elsewhere. What a bunch of amateurish time-wasters. I genuinely have no idea why they're extending offers to the rest of the country if they can only operate within Scotland and London.

BTW - A response to all who've commented on the fact that Clydesdale is in Scotland. Yes, I did know that.

Despite having one of their credit cards I've never been to Halifax either!

their £150 Incentive for Current Account transfers is, at least, more worthwhile Lennie.
