Hello MoneySavers.

Experienced a delay of about 3 hours in Liverpool John Lennon, because the incoming plane was hit by a bird-strike according to staff. Self and partner then bussed to Manchester after original flight eventually cancelled. Booked to fly from LJL because I am disabled and can't walk very far at all. Massive walk from bus drop off to departure area in Manchester (nearly killed me - bit of an exaggeration there, but immense pain). Within minutes of getting to airport our names were being called as last call for...., acquired a wheelchair for last 40% of walk with airport staff member pushing me very fast to get to gate in time. Were given £10 food voucher, but when we got onto plane there was no food left. Arrived at Hotel in Benitses at 2:00am about 7 hours late (even though we paid for a taxi transfer) and the only thing open was reception.

This was flight TOM 1711 on 05/09/2008 Liverpool to Corfu, but ended up being Manchester to Corfu.

Has anyone ever successfully asked for and received compensation from this flight ? Is a bird-strike on an incoming flight considered an extraordinary circumstance for the outgoing flight of the same plane ? I realise the time that has passed but been waiting for the recent Liverpool case to conclude as was advised Thomson one of airlines putting people on hold.

Any info or advice would be much appreciated.
