No, they won't.
A competent mechanic works on the brakes and makes no checks on whether they now work correctly?
Why do you think they would not?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Because of the amount of time I've spent around garages. If everything was extensively road-tested, after something as commonplace as discs and pads, nothing'd ever get done. It'll get driven into the workshop, out of the workshop, and parked up.A competent mechanic works on the brakes and makes no checks on whether they now work correctly?

B'sides that, pads should be allowed to bed in over a few hundred miles before heavy braking.0 -

i would be sacked if i never road tested any vehicle that i done brakes on, its amazing what other noises you hear that we advise our customers so they can't blame us when they get their car back
its better if someone spots a mistake before the customer get the back bad to fix it.0 -
I've never known a garage to do a road test on something as basic as pads and discs either. In fact usually they park it up and send me packing (although only ever use a garage for it for work). It's usually a job for the apprentice.0

I never said a road test and the OP never said it was brakes and pads.
You may be right that they never test anything they do but it is not my experience.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Brakes, "rattly". Hands up who recognises a car fitted with ebay brake pads that don't quite meet spec.?
Crack on and do a full diagnosis and forensic road test, the punter will only whine that you have used three miles of fuel.0 -
