Broadband advice

Just thought I'd ask incase anyone has looked this up recently and has any advice
We use broadband only, we don't own a phone or tv. We want the best price for a reliable service (20MB+ is fine).
Currently paying £30.24 a month for VM 20MB which seems steep. Factoring in instillation and cancellation fees, does anyone know if we could do better ?
Cheers

If you goto another BB provider, BT, Plusnet, TT, Sky etc etc. Then you will need a phone line also.
Also unlike VM your line speed will depend on the distance from the exhange and quality of the line.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
This is why it's a pain trying to price things.
Line rental costs and how everything is £1 a month for the first six months and then £99 + a kidney for the remainder of the contract0 -

Suggest you ignore the offers and just price up the normal service .Line rental is roughly £16- per month .
Dont want to pay line rental then a mobile dongle has no line rental but will probably be more than current spend .
Tell VM you want to leave and they may offer you a better deal .0 -
The minimum entry speed is now 50Mbps for Virgin Media.
What you actually get due to Network Congestion and Traffic Shaping is a separate issue.
You might need to upgrade your SuperHub.
So, give one month notice, so Customer Retention calls you up.
This is the standard price:

Whatever you accept, it will be on a 12 month (or more) contract tie-in.
Note that the EE TV offer requires that you have a roof top TV aerial, and a valid TV License, so probably not suitable.0 -
Someone like talk talk or plus.net will be slightly cheaper (£17 line rental + ~£10 broadband) with extra savings when including special offers.
But overall teh saving isnt great and will be at the mercy of line lengths to determine your speed, i.e you may only be able to get 5mb if you are far away from the exchange.
I personally am with VM broadband only (100mb) and am very happy with it.0 -
Since broadband is exchange-specific, it all depends what is available on yours, so start with an exchange search on samknows, com for your LLU options.
If you want 20Mbps + on a non-cable line then you will need to be paying for an FTTC service, of which Sky, TT and PN are the likely candidates.
Costing it up is very simple: the only figure that matters is the total cost over the minimum term.
Remember that you'll need to factor in the cost of provisioning or reconnecting a BT-based line.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Currently paying a Liver and a Kidney, £36 a month for Plusnet Fibre + phone line. The deal ended a while back so full price for a few more months yet.
But when i can download 1GB in approx 2 minutes it seems worth it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
