  • Everyone has basically said what I was going to say about Dalmatians. I love them to look at but would never own one. They are spectacularly disobedient, airheaded and bloody minded. It is the dog in their case, like many OE Sheepdogs (Dulux dogs) a basically half decent breed had the intelligence bred out of it by its popularity.
I had a near Crufts obedience standard OE Sheepdog that hadn't read that manual and knew a lovely Dalmatian that also bucked the trend. However it is a trend. They are not easy dogs.

I always smile to myself when I hear this breed mentioned! When DD was about 11 years old we were having a conversation about dogs. I grew up with labradors but in adult life have always had springers.
She proudly announced that when she grew up she was going to have a Durex dog! (Think Dulux crossed with Andrex!!!).

burtha, that was really helpful. Dora is 20 weeks old now and we have been feeding her a commercial puppy food, as advised by the previous owner. I'm not usually in charge of things like this but I will mention it to he who is.

I did try the trick of turning my back on her when she jumped up at me. She jumped up on my back.
Ever tried giving a wriggly Dalmation a piggy back?

It is blowing a gale and raining today so I can't let the dogs out into the mud bath that is the garden. It will have to be a walk on a leash. Oh, deep joy.

    Only 2 more days!

I'm wandering around gardening blogs. To take my mind off the snow that's falling outside..
  • Still playing catch up .
Mar Wednesday is the first day of Spring but I don't think it's going to make any difference to the weather , love the furry furniture very os .
SS I hope things are sorted soon and wish you some restful sleep .
Hester Been wondering how todays survey has gone . Reading your blog earlier made me laugh , only you could come up with such titles , you're shameless woman .
Hope NM is ok and any who don't feel to good .
Been meaning to reply to Ginny . I looked at the school on your blog a few days ago and that sounds perfect . It must put all your minds at rest and sounds a much calmer and caring environment for the little man .
Good to see you both got out long may it continue . Is the shoulder and cts any better ? Well done for watching Daniel , my dvd was pre-ordered in November and arrived on Saturday . Will need to choose my moment to watch but really hope all that can cope with it will watch . Ken Loach is one of my heroes and it's amazing that 50 years after Cathy he's still showing reality . At 80 he deserves a rest but I imagine like the beast of Bolsover he'll go out raging when the time comes .
Burtha how are you keeping ? hope you slow down and rest once in a while .
I'm wondering how Monnas day has gone , not long now just run out of the back door when the family come home find somewhere quiet and scream .
    Take care all

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • We're home and the survey went fairly well, no hidden horrors just a few minor issues.
She is having new sacrificial anodes fitted and being blacked on Wednesday, the multifuel stove will be replaced next. Then it's the licence, insurance, boat safety certificate and other paperwork to be sorted.
I took some pics today I'll post them on my blog later.
    Chin up, Titus out.

I'm fine Polly Just trying to conserve my energy as I have hospital appointments tomorrow for the Christie and Wednesday for the local one. I am usually totally washed out after the Christie and sleep anything from 16 to 24 hours. Maybe it will be 48 hours from Wednesday.

I stay totally washed out for about 4 days, after the long sleep. I do hope it will not be 8 days as I am having two days in a row. I am sick of hospitals and clinics. Last week was the first week this year I had not had an appointment.

Monna , hope the walk was ok , .. keep trying with the jump up ,turn around and totally dismiss thing , been there many a time with a hyperactive springer lol , it does work just after 6 or 7 times ...If poss try to push away without saying anything then turn , as from the dogs point of view ,whatever it is doing its getting attention and response , so blank it and turn . Then when it's done that a few times it will realise . Then call over and praise / treat . Other things to try and help train can be "clickers" , most will pick up quite quickly using these , or if you need a dog to stop quick even dropping a bunch of keys onto a hard surface can work . Sure your Ds will find out more at a puppy class or online .

It's cold here tonight , feel like I gave been running around all day , kids, work, kids, shopping. Dogs and chickens feed/walked/sorted in the snow ,made a large pan of broth before went out in the snow so now almost ready :D, youngest dd stressed out due to "mock "exams , roll on the next two weeks , so now in for the rest of the night :T , dh still at work then work at the bar , so will lucky to see him before 10 30 ... hey ho

Hester glad thing seam to be going ok
Nm fingers crossed your not to wiped out after hospital
Can't remember who else has posted think I have got brain freeze :D , so hugs to anyone that wants one

Burtha, you are a genius. Did the turning my back on her several times and the last time there was complete silence and.......nothing. I looked back to see Dora sitting watching me. Oh boy! did she have a fuss made of her. Now to persuade the rest of the family to keep this up. She has been very good today except when I walked her to the post box. It was like having a whirling dervish on the lead. Everyone I met drooled over her and exclaimed on her beauty. I smiled through clenched teeth and offered to hand her over there and then. Strangely there were no takers.
This morning I was gloating over the fact that I only had another 2 days to go. Scrub that.
DS2 checked in with me today and imparted the glad news that they may have to stay another day.
    "That's fine," I lied.

Hester, surveys always throw up a few minor items. It's how surveyors justify their fee. Glad there was nothing too sinister.
What I am waiting to hear is.......when are you going to hand in your notice? The champagne corks will be popping that day.

I'm sure there were other things I wanted to say but I've forgotten what they were.

Is it my imagination or is it getting colder? I feel distinctly chilly. Think I'll get into bed with a hot water bottle.

    night all.
