Yes monna I'm quite cold shall have to put the heater on.
  • NM It's horrible when two appointments follow each other like that and I imagine it would have been slightly better if the Christie had been the second one .
Tonight is certainly by a long way the coldest night of the winter . Snow is coming and going . I seem to remember your heating is more effective earlier in the day so I hope you are snuggled up . Is there any chance the landlord might consider another way of heating now you've gone through the first year ?
Will you have to bus it to the Christie ? I can't remember if you used patient transport or the voluntary driver service in the past . I hope all goes well and you'll be in my thoughts .
    Love polly x.

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Monna glad things went ok . You were missing a long time and I wondered if during the walk you gave the stick to Dora to throw and you jumped over the cliff .

nursemaggie: it's not just me then. I did toy with the idea of turning the heating up but I'm more than happy to get into a warm bed and read.

I'd like to be able to say that I'm being mse in not putting the heating up but honesty prevails. I'm only too glad of an excuse to climb into bed.

I should think that you could do with an early night in view of what you have to do tomorrow and Wednesday. You must be sick and tired of hospitals.

    Hugs.

  • Too right Monna and polly I am sick to death of hospitals and clinics. I have been all over the place. I am not just sick of hospitals I am sick of three hour each way bus rides with lots and lots of changes and waits. When I get there I end up with half an hour wait for a blood test then an hour wait to be moved to the area where the doctors are seeing patients then get moved to area where doctors are for an hour then get moved to a room where I will see a Doctor then a nurse comes takes BP weight etc. Then another half hour maybe a student and then another half hour wait and at last the doctor.

I get b sick of all that waiting, as well as all those buses. The round trip by bus is around 6 to 6 and a half hours plus all those waits. Two weeks ago I left home at 7.30am and finally got home just after 8.30pm.

It takes about the same time by hospital transport because I can still be in Bolton three hours after I get in the ambulance. You have to be on treatment to get hospital transport which I technically was not when I left the Christie two weeks ago. I could apply tomorrow and may get it back.

To be honest if I go by bus I know where I will be and when and I do not have to go round all the houses for three hours then realise you are still only 5 mins from home. You can also wait over 3 hours to come back then get a maniacal taxidriver who scares you to death all the way home. I stopped using the hospital transport when I was picked up at 7am for a 3.15pm appointment. The first clinic of the morning had not even started when I got there. 3.15pm is near the end of the afternoon clinic. I went shopping.

I have found a bus that goes from Bolton to Stockport and stops about a mile from the Christie. I think I will do a dry run before my next appointment, to make sure I can get there on time. The only thing is I can't read on a bus. If I go bus train bus I can read part of the way. It makes me sick if I read on a bus.

No I have not gone to bed I am too wide awake. I did buy an oil filled radiator. That tops it up.

Polly as far as the housing association are concerned no tenant has complained before the heaters have been OK for 30 years they will do another 30.

    Monna well done,
Right , view the extra day as an extra day to sort the dog out ....
    Jumping up ... done
Pulling ... 2 ways to stop
Dogs pull because they are excited to be out , want to explore ....
In the dogs head it will nearly always win if it pulls , because the owner ends up giving in and the dog can then go were it wants
Both of these work after a few short walk , but at first the 5 min walk may take 15 ...
    1. Dog pulls, stop and stand completely still , ignore dog , turn around if needed , when lead goes loose walk on .
    2. Dog pulls, stop and quickly turn in other direction , saying something like " let's move " or "let's go" in a happy excited voice , dog will follow with a loose lead moving up next to you so you can turn back to were you want to be . Repeat till dog gets the message , good body language and voice will quickly tell the dog the only way to get to go is with you , not against you , when dog is next to you reward with treat .

Hope that helps , will make it clear to the dog what is expected from it , and make your life so much better .
Honestly couldn't cope with my 9 if they didn't know the rules lol . There not perfect by far , but are managed , iykwim
when your son comes back he will wonder what has happened and where your magic wand is :D
have fun and stick with it , you can do it , in my head I will be walking next to you . Done both ways many times , if nothing else think how you will entertain the village walking backwards and forwards a few times lol

Thanks burtha. Most of my 5 minute walks take at least 15 at the moment. It's the leaping in the air getting the lead tangled round her legs, running round me getting the lead tangled round my legs and having to stop for all passers by to tell her what a beautiful girl she is. Perhaps I will wear a sandwich board, "PUPPY IN TRAINING."

Yesterday a driver stopped his van and got out to say that he had to stop because the puppy was so lovely. I said that I was so disappointed, I'd thought that he was bowled over by MY grace and beauty. He took one look at the short, plump, wrinkled, grey haired, windblown vision before him and made it back to the van with some speed.
    Some folks don't appreciate irony.

I will certainly try the stop and turn round treatment tomorrow. The villagers already think I am slightly strange. No harm in confirming their worst fears.

nurse maggie: That is a nightmare journey you have to do. You must spend your life in a constant state of exhaustion. You need someone to look after YOU. I bet you have been a 'coper' all your life. Whatever you have had thrown at you, you've just faced and got on with it.
Well, I don't know about you but in my next life I'm going to be ornamental and useless. And rich. It surely can't be worse than what you are going through at the moment.

    Hugs.

  • Has visions of Monna becoming the next Barbara Woodhouse.
9? You have 9 dogs Burtha? How did I miss that.
Hugs NM I'm so grateful that I was self-employed when my mother was going through treatment. I was at least able to get her to her appointments with less stress.
Monna, October half term is the plan, it should have been July but I don't think I will be replaced. Without me the first half term back in September would be hell on wheels for the person who gets my job dumped on them and as I'm pretty sure who that will be and I can't do that to her.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Hester, you are a saint to be thinking of your colleague. After what that place has put you through you would be fully justified in dropping them in it.
OK then. Autumn half term it is. I'll start collecting the party poppers..

If the treatment doesn't exhaust you, the travelling to get it will. It seems so unfair Nursemaggie.

Can I be ornamental in the next life too? I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be a woman who has lunches, blow dries and manicures.... then I pick up my trowel and keep on plastering.
