Morning all! My mouth feels fine, so I won't worry about the lost stitch.
Hope hospital went ok mardatha
Glad the pills worked Softstuff
FPk One of the things we found under the stairs was a box containing a lovely pair of walking boots OH had bought - he says he hadn't forgotten about them (Hmmm;)) but hasn't needed them yet.
Back in the winter he bought a pair of snowboots "just in case" and was astonished when I pointed out that he already had a brand new, unworn, still with label attached, pair of snowboots among the random stuff near the back door. He decided it was too much hassle sending the new pair back, so the original ones went to the charity shop.0 -
ivyleaf - when I had my implant done I was SURE one of the stitches had come out, but apparently it hadn't. Of course, you shouldn't be poking it with your tongue anyway0

Morning Everyone,
Did anyone see a programme on Tv last night, i think it was Bbc. It was about old people being conned and robbed. One lady had a carer who was taking her money, another man lost thousands investing in phone scams, and the last lady paid out her life saving to a builder who kept coming back doing work that wasn't needed at inflated prices. Yesterday i thought that was me.
My roof has been leaking, i've put down old blankets in the loft. It was leaking last year, just one slate had slipped and all the roofers i called wouldn't come out for such a small job. Eventually someone down the road was getting a new roof so i said to the guy, while you're here will you come to mine, even he found extra work but wasn't here long. Anyway again i've seen a roofer working up the road, told him it's only one slate that had slipped. He comes and says, the chimney needs pointing, the gutters need cleaning, this needs doing, that needs doing. It will cost you £1150. I kept saying No, he kept reducing the price, even offering to take me the cash point. We got down to £200 cash, for part of the work he said i needed. I still said No 'cos it was only the one slate. That was all on Wednesday, then yesterday there's a knock on the door and there is my roofer standing there. He'll fix the slipped slate for £40. When he got up he said there were 5 slates loose, he'd do it for £90.
He never renewed any, all he did was get roofing felt and a gas bottle to melt it, he said that was the best way. But doesn't it show you, i may be getting older but i'm not befuddled yet. How easy would it be for him to get £1150 off some old lady.
Well i'm going up in the loft to put some fresh old blankets down, then it's a case of wait and see has the leak been fixed.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

It gave me the clue I needed to hunt around online and - bingo - none of us needs to fast for cholesterol blood tests any longer and, indeed, it would be best if we didn't. They've done new research and issued new guidelines.
Trust my current health authority not to have been up-to-date on latest guidelines:cool: - though it is the notorious Hywel Dda Board....that have been shocking me ever since I moved here with the different way they are to my last Health Board.

So there you are - that's useful info. for any of us needing these tests ever. Something we can quote if we're still being told to fast.
Off to check whether that fasting blood test they sent me for was before or after last week of April this year - and I believe it was some weeks afterwards...
Not sure why you would expect your health board to be immediately up to date with American guidelines? I find the best way to approach tests for anything is to ASK the nurse or the consultant who is guiding your treatment, they usaully have the answers without having any need to complain. Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
"international guidelines"
"European heart journal"0 -
My MIL has been tested for angina these past few weeks so I know a teeny bit about this...
There are two types of testing that the NHS use to determine cholesterol levels. One requires fasting, the other one doesn't.
The people proving the care are always the best people to communicate with I tend to think. The internet is full of folk like me who know a teeny bit about something someone else has experienced0 -
Fuddle, did I read right that you have a house rabbit? How cute! I would love one but not sure Whisky the cat would be keen to share her space!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Yeah
she's a gem. It's taken a while for her to mature and not want to chew everything in sight and even longer to trust that she's safe with us but she's such fun. She has a base in the living room where she goes in when we aren't home, are sleeping or when she's had enough of visitors but other than that she's free range.

Fuddle: Free-range rabbit? I do hope that I misunderstand you.

I wasn't, and still haven't. I just felt a "tail" of thread hanging down. Then the next time I had something to eat, it just came out.
