I can still remember what coming off the opioids was like after 20 years... Far worse than the pain they were supposed to treat, which was considerably less two weeks later when withdrawal stopped. Some people (aren't I lucky) get an inverse reaction to opioids which makes you more sensitive to pain, not less, which of course means more pain and an increased dose...
I'm now not allowed opioids, but because it isn't an allergy some anaesthetists like to argue with me. I've learned to refuse to sign consent forms until they agree to sign to say they won't give them to me...0 -
SailorSam sorry about horrid anniversary! Good luck with the comedy
The night it happend i thought , ..... why me ? Why did i pick the nutter up ? But afterwards i thought, i've been lucky. There was about a dozen stabs in my back; neck and arm, if one or two of them had been an inch to the right, or an inch to the left, i might not be here.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Newest thinking. It will take time to filter down the line. In the meantime it's better to follow Doctor instructions. And drink water.
Sam, I'm thankful you lived through such a horribly traumatic event! Our lives can be changed forever in an instant can't they? Thinking of you today.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Thanks nursemaggie, we did watch it.
I'm glad you're going to try an exercise class. Our surgery runs them and the first three classes are free, but after that it's £3.50 a week because they have to pay to hire a church hall, and it can't be managed atm.
OH broke his back years ago, and new bone has built up around the original operation site, so his back can't bend where it's meant to.
Bother, one of my stitches has come out! I thought it felt last night as if it had come undone. The dentist did seem to have terrible trouble knotting them though. It doesn't seem to be bleeding at any rate, so hopefully it can just be left.
sorry if TMI0 -
Well, turns out I was a bit premature in worrying about timing the painkillers. The 2 I had late afternoon lasted all night.... and I was so dopey I didn't only sleep through, but slept in and woke up ravenous :T I will get some gingernuts Nurse Maggie. Can't wait to be eating biscuits and telling OH they're medicinal! They say after food rather than not on an empty stomach, I was just trying to be careful, given my poor stomach anyway. Thanks for the timing advice too Westcoastscot.
Monnagran, it isn't that I enjoy exercise, it's just that I like pain less :rotfl: I hope you get into tai chi Nursemaggie, it looks like fun.
I don't think I have an inner viking Mard.... if I do, it's buried well beneath a squishy exterior. Well done with the exercise, your next goal can be twice roundSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

I love porridge but can't eat until 11am. Made with water and salt, and a good glug of single cream on top. Magic0

Morning all,
It has been a very busy few days and I haven't been reading along. Leftover bacon and leek risotto for lunch and OH will do fajitas for tea while I'm out at yoga. We're going to a nearly free play tomorrow--£1/ticket and I'm getting new shoes! Hopefully that will have me feeling restored in time to rinse and repeat next week. We're at that time of year where it becomes awkward to get washing dry, but I think I'm managing so far!
I hope all of the hospital visits, exercises, tablets, tests, stitches and the like are going as well as can be expected. Although I've been going to yoga/gym for years I have to admit that my Wednesday walks, started this summer, have really helped keep me feeling less stressed. We'll see if I feel that same way when the weather is terrible! I'm saving up for some nice walking boots--I'd better save faster!
Hugs to all who need them.x0 -

Thanks for that comment.
It gave me the clue I needed to hunt around online and - bingo - none of us needs to fast for cholesterol blood tests any longer and, indeed, it would be best if we didn't. They've done new research and issued new guidelines.
Trust my current health authority not to have been up-to-date on latest guidelines:cool: - though it is the notorious Hywel Dda Board....that have been shocking me ever since I moved here with the different way they are to my last Health Board.

So there you are - that's useful info. for any of us needing these tests ever. Something we can quote if we're still being told to fast.
Off to check whether that fasting blood test they sent me for was before or after last week of April this year - and I believe it was some weeks afterwards...0
