    Morning all,

Softstuff, the meatballs are a mixture of aubergine, onion, garlic, optional chilli, beadcrumbs, optional olives and herbs. They're chopped finely fried off, shaped into balls and fried off again. While tasty, I think the recipe needs a makeover. Next time I'll put them through the food processor and add an egg for binding. But, I'm probably not going to make them again for awhile as they're more work for a very similar effect to an aubergine pasta recipe where you just roast chunks of aubergine, add a pinch of chilli flakes to the pasta sauce and mix it all together with herbs on top. Both are served over pasta. The second is probably our favorite can't be bothered, want something DO NOT GET A TAKEAWAY meal.:rotfl:

Wondercollie I've had days (and tights) like that.

I think I'm going to go into town today--the shipping on the sheet makes it cheaper to check them out at Deben.. than order online and I could do with some sort of braid for my dress to make button loops. Nothing in my stash is quite right.

:) Lol, Softstuff, hubby watching a front loader, never thought about how novel they must be to people who've never seen one before. The only places I've used toploaders are laundrettes and, at one theatre I worked at, a wonderful cream-colured tank of a 1950s singletub washer (complete with mangle!) which we used to use for dyeing things in.

My family once had a cat, affectionately known as Halfwit, who had a fascination with all things aquatic. She liked to sit watching the laundry go round the drum. My new washer is so quiet compared to its predecessor from 2005 that I keep going to check that its still running.

Don't know if I'll be gardening today as it's wet atm (yesterday was lovely and dry but I was too exhausted) but we'll see how the day shapes up. If not, I have stuff to do, inc sewing, but I did the prep and pinning yestereve and am ready to start blamming around with the sewing machine and as next door's bedroom is on the other side of the wall I shall refrain until at least 9 am, perhaps a bit later.

  • GQ the funnier one would be his antics when trying to get his 'human' to light up the woodstove which she calls ' Stupid human, why do you not make the metal box go ORANGE!!!' and he has a whole raft of ways from sitting on it and peering in from the top to actually sitting in the log basket and yelling at the top of his voice!!!

Fairyprincess, those sound nice and I'll give them a go the next time I see aubergines cheap, thanks.

GQ, its not that he hasn't seen one before, but he hasn't owned or operated one of his own. In much the same way he had immense joy mowing the lawn, though I'm sure that will wear off swiftly too!

We got rearended today in the car. We stopped for a pedestrian at the crossing, the person a bit behind decided not to. Fortunately he was pleasant, we got all details, he admitted liability and we'll go get our little car seen to. All people were fine, I was just shaken, upset and not really needing the hassle.

:) I think the slowness of human servants to repsond is a constant irritation to our cat masters.

Take the Queen of Sheba, a mongel oriental, probably partly a Burmese. Never have we known a cat so temperature sensitive. If its under 65 degrees, she wants your body. She wants your body sitting on her favourite armchair and will stand on the arm of it, looking at you, until you comply.

Once installed, she wants fuss. Until she has had enough. Then she wants one of your hands (the left for preference) to use as a pillow. Then, if you have the cheek to think that you might just be able to read a book one-handed, she wakes up and demands two-handed fussing until the book is put away. Repeated several times until you have grasped that your left hand is her pillow and your right hand and arm should be curved nicely around her back to keep the drafts away and provide occasional stokes.:rotfl:

ETA Oh Softstuff, what a blasted nuisance about your car.

    Morning fencers.

Softstuff - you must have been shaken up by the rear ending of the car thingy

Moneyistootight...- you really are a cynic! I personally don't feel that medics should be focussing on personality at all just the condition but as I say it did make me giggle. There are worse things to be called than pleasant. Actually I'm a strong character who takes no nonsence and always quizzes them, but I suppose I craftily pleasant with it. And the good news is that my condition is under control and I feel good right now.

BUT not this morning. This morning I feel quite low. My dog walks at the weekends used to be 5 miles at least and a real fun time but will be no more while OldDog is with us and that makes me sad. I almost don't want to go out at all.

I'm also reminded by the post above of SickDog. She used to spend ages staring at herself in the steel handles on our bath. Whenever I dye DD's hair in there now, she is definitely missing.

Anyway, enough of that. I need to shake myself up, make myself look human and get moving.

    Have a great day fencers.

My Pushkin has decided that DH's beard makes him an honorary cat so she walks up his chest to 'love' him and scent him - as she has a very fine undercoat he's spitting 'fluff' for the next 5 mins (but he let's her do it - she's got him well trained!)

:D I have a happy memory of DGS aged about 10 months, kneeling with his elbows on the porthole door and a beatific look on his little face as he watched the washing go round :A I do wish I'd taken a photo.

moneyistooshorttoomention "Pleasant" in the context you mention just means "easy to get on with and won't rant at you." I remember once seeing a patient's notes which began with "This poor man and his militant wife...." Though tbf it was referring to the patient as a "poor man" because he was so unwell, not because of his wife, who was of course just concerned to make sure he wasn't walked all over when he was too ill to make a fuss.

Mrs LW Just seen your second post about Pushkin, he sounds a riot :D I'd love to see him yelling from the log basket :rotfl:

Softstuff Sorry to hear about your prang  Thank goodness you are okay, though it is bound to upset you for a while. Try to take things easy until you feel okay xx

GQ The Queen of Sheba sounds like our cat. How dare we have the cheek to want to read a book while they're on our laps? I'm really enjoying ours being back to his dear cuddly self; he's been having treatment for an overactive thyroid for a month now, and before treatment he had become quite restless (and probably feeling overheated) and didn't want to be cuddled any more at all.
