Evening all,
Pleasant day of sewing, laundry and gym visit here. Tonight's tea is AGCJ's Not Meatballs with pasta.
My favourite packed lunch is a slice of cold quiche and a salad or two--I particularly like a nice tabbouleh or a grated carrot salad with quiche, but cole slaw, potato salad etc. are all nice as well.
I've just started planning our menus for the beginning of the challenge. For various reasons we'll do a shop next Wednesday until the Sunday 12. I scoped out the super-six and so far have only a couple of the 11 dinners planned--a leek and bacon quiche and a leek and bacon risotto the following week. A bit closer to time I'll consult my list of cheapest meals and see what is left in the fridge and finish it off.0 -
Where is everyone today or are we all waiting for someone to say something for us to respond to?0

Sunny today. Finished work early today. There was nothing to do. I managed to move one patient home but that was it. There is a baby boom happening in the smaller hospitals and they just don't have beds. There are still staff working but it was painful
Have you ever had the day when your tights won't stay up? I took the bus home and had that horrible feeling, you know when you sit down and you feel the waistband roll down and wind up around your hips? then you have to figure out how to get off the bus without them falling down?? Yup that was my trip home.0 -

Yep, I've had days like that.
Got a copy of the letter today from my consultant to my doctor with outcome of appointment last week. I am described as 'pleasant' - I didn't realise my personality was being assessed too. Made me giggle though.
Thank goodness it is the weekend. I have no real plans, I can pretty much do what I want to do. Yay....maybe natter all day at the fence...Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Foodstuff you have done a brilliant job on the apartment. I'm very impressed.
Oh yes wondercollie I know exactly what you mean. I've also had that happen with Gok pants, those large hold everything in pants.
My go to quick evening meal is a risotto with leftover cooked chicken. I tend to put all of the stock in the pan in one go and simmer just topping up with some boiled water if necessary. Start to finish in 25 min.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Our new washer is on its inaugural first drum cleaning cycle. Hubby is finding it utterly fascinating (he's never had a front loader before). Betting the fascination wears off before any laundry actually gets done in it :rotfl:
GQ, if there's anything from your linen cupboard not washed yet, please send it here. I'll pass it to hubby.
Fairyprincess, I always forget quiche as an option. We might have one this weekend now you've reminded me. What are the not meatballs??
Haven't done an actual full food shop since we moved in, due to finances and also convenience, have just picked up the odd bit here and there with some reductions and the odd precooked chicken. Also my very good friend kept giving me the odd meal too! So need to get back into it.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

This is a "you know you've become somewhat cynical when....." moment for me. I'd be worried the translation of "pleasant" meant "wont stand up for her rights", ie so we can tell her there isn't any treatment for something (even though there is), that there is a long waiting list for something (though the ailment decreed that wouldn't be possible to live with for long), etc.
Must admit I'd rather have anyone that's anything to do with the NHS describing me as "organised"/"well-informed" or the like and I'd anticipate less trouble/wait to get whatever ailment it was sorted out.
Best comment from a medic I've ever had (ie a consultant) being "I can see you're two steps ahead...." accompanied by a grin.
I've watched one of my parents get told in between cataract operation on one eye and the one due on the other eye that they didn't need eye 2 done after all/it wasn't that bad. At which point cynical me informed them that I had read an article in the interim stating NHS is trying to ration people to only having one eye done and lying to them that they don't need the second one done. They got told to "go back and fight them about it" and tell them they knew what was happening. They did. They won. Eye number 2 done as per original plan.0
