Haha Monna - I have small boat, small engine ,minute loo but can provide coffee!!
Sunshine here too at the moment Mrs L but very humid - I suspect thunder sometime.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
We have had a lovely day, although breezy.
First lot of meds to try. I have 2 month supply so didn't go down the prepay prescription route just yet but thank you so much for telling me about it. I have a 2 in 1, 12 hour slow release powder inhaler. I don't know anything about it so that's my job tonight. I like to know the ins and outs. It's hit me today really. I don't like relying on or beholden to anything but such is life and I already feel so much better.
monna the gift of family meal being made after a day of work is only something the time poor can normally dream about. What you're doing will so very appreciated. I hope you get some positive feelings from it too. You're needed monna, roll thy sleeves up woman!0 -
Softstuff: I hope that you are beginning to get your body clock sorted out. You missed the few days of a glorious English spring. Such a shame, the flowers, fresh green leaves and gentle sunshine are such a tonic after a long grey winter. Although you, of course, have not suffered winter, long and grey must be a foreign language to you.
x
Body clock is coming along ta Monnagran, just feel a bit amiss mentally is all, but am sure will perk up soon. I'm not sure if where I was has had spring yet... after all, while I was there I was snowed on  Over here we're heading into my favourite time of year, autumn. Curiously enough, autumn and winter are good times for planting and gardening here and feel a bit like an English spring. Though I guess there aren't too many of you intending to plant bananas, passion fruit or chokos :rotfl: We might not suffer the long and grey, but we suffer the red hot sweat of summer, so this weather is equally a relief.
I seem to be making a habit of being turned down for jobs. This one I thought I would have had, given it was temporary cover for a friend. But I guess she doesn't see me as being up to the job. That kind of hurts. Seems there's always someone better for the job.
Hoping the auction site bid I made on 12 bottles of wine for 25p each delivered is successful. There's nowt like cheap wine to improve the mood.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
OMG softstuff that is cheaper than water maybe even out of the tap.
I think your mum will have had a couple of days of spring. I switched my heaters off two days ago and put them back on last night. I did have one day too hot and one when I could have done with a little heat in the evening.
It's very quiet up in Scotland so it must be right they are having the best weather.
From DS at dinner time tonight, "Is this kale you have sneaked into my dinner? There's not zukini and eggplant in it too?"
Well yes there was, thought that would amuse Mar. I think he would have been happier with your wine.
I hope you get a job soon softstuff. It does a body good to be wanted as I am sure Monna can agree.0 -
Aw Monna, enjoy your cooking, sounds like everyone is happy there. Have you used your new machine yet?
You seem to be getting to grips with the boat Silva, I learned to sail on the Solent - My DB and I once decided to sail to the IOW one Sunday morning from Stokes Bay in an Enterprise dingy. Needless to say we didn't get there, I think we saw sense the first time a big ship appeared on the horizon!
Yes, nursemaggie, we are having the best weather! Wall to wall sunshine and happy smiling faces all round. I think this is the last of the sunshine today for a while but we have all had a terrific boost.0 -
Camelot
why does that always happen. I'm down south this week. Weather is ok but my garden is probably running riot. I put the tomatoes and beans out into the greenhouse before I left. I'm not sure they'll have survived the week without watering.
Oh well. I suppose Homeb**e will still have some plants if the worst has happened.
Enjoy Autumn softstuff. Where are you? I may be spending a year out there if DH's jobs work out. He sort of gave me an option - Australia or Nottingham. For 12 months. Mmmmm. Difficult decision:DGoals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
Well, the foghornss were pretty busy all day yesterday. It was so hot and sticky - not pleasant. Looks better so far today.
What to wear is the problem. I am going out today to meet up with two of my special friends from the homeless project I was involved with. I still keep in touch with several folk that I was privileged to help. One of those that I am meeting today has turned her life round spectacularly. When I first met her she was an alcoholic, drug user, self harmer, living in the sort of accommodation you wouldn't keep a rat in. She is now a bright, confident, healthy young woman. No alcohol, no drugs, cutting scars healing well, living in a really nice hostel and cycling everywhere. She has even, since Chistmas, given up smoking and is proudly putting the money saved every day in a jar. Next week she is going to open a savings account.
For someone to overcome the problems that she has had all her life must have taken so much courage and commitment that I am in awe of her. Her erstwhile druggie friends are completely shocked and uncomprehending.
Anyway, that is my day today. I have a cake in the oven to take as my offering.
Camelot: although I have my machine my fabric stash is in my friends garage. It is unreachable by bus so I will negotiate a lift when people are free to take me. Then it will be all systems go.

Well, I've just wasted entirely half an hour of my life!!! Today in the village hall was a 'Consultation' to discuss a proposed new building project for somewhere between 100 and 200 new houses on the only road into the village. Despite being charming in the extreme none of the 'tea' running the consultation had any actual facts to give, like 'HOW MANY HOUSES?', I don't know.....What type of houses? I don't know.....Only one exit/entrance onto a very busy road with the only bus route in and out of the village, the only secondary school in the area and a flooding problem on the roundabout at the bottom of that road....Oh is there??? How will you deal with it.....I don't know......Will your company be making any infrastructure contributions to the area.....Oh that's something to take up with the council, we just pay them some money and they decide how to spend it....I'LL BET YOU DO!!! So, half an hour utterly wasted and they'll do whatever they can get the council to allow them and life here will become more crowded and will mean longer waits at the doctors, dentists and even bigger classes in our junior school, Oh JOY!!!0

They are building a new housing estate near us as well Mrs L, I realy want to grab one of the twits that are in charge of building and take him to the 30 house's that I know of, in a row, that need doing up, landlord is not bothered about 'em, and he's got all the money he need's, his words not mine, and he can't be bothered to chase after people for rent when he can leave them empty for a tax loss, there's families living in bedsit's who would love to live in 'em, makes me wounder what the world is coming to.£71.93/ £180.000

I'm sure I remember seeing something (probably just a proposal and not passed into law) that was going to force empty homes back into the rental market. But I can't locate anything via a quick google.0
